Take a long screwdriver, and hit the rod from the top. Er, tap it actually would be better~! There is an aluminum stop for the upper rod, but you can get around it. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

That's what I had to do on mine. I used a long thin punch and drove it out from the top down. Be careful not to damage the stop pin on top. Thin tapered punch will get you past it. _________________ 87 924S |

Did that, no joy.
Took pressure plate bolts out via starter hole to pull the whole thing off, with bell housing on the bench I still can't budge it, drift, sledge hammer, PB Blaster, propane torch........
letting it sit overnight, again
BTW
what does the spring washer do? it had fallen apart, release bearing seems okay otherwise, not really enough left on the friction disc, dang clutch parts are expensive!!!
Maybe the spring washer rusted up and couldn't take being restored to life.
We have to decide now how much to replace. _________________ 87 924S project, '83 944 engine,

I was looking at pics of the pin you can't get out. It looks like the lock bolt that holds it in is broken off in the hole at the bottom. The notched washer goes under the snap ring holding the throw out bearing to pressure plate fingers. Go to the how to page and find thread on 924S/944 clutch disc. I am doing that right now. _________________ 87 924S |

super, I'll take it
The retaining bolt is out. That hole is clear, I can shoot PB Blaster into it and it comes streaming out the notch/flat in the shaft. I'm sure it's just seized and time, chemicals and muscle will get it......eventually. _________________ 87 924S project, '83 944 engine,

Did you take a look at the how to on the clutch disk? I am modifying one right now for mine. I will put the spring washer in an envelope and mail it to you. _________________ 87 924S |

I will go look at the how to.
Clutch fork shaft came out when a guy on rennlist suggested pounding it back in a little (not too far as to hit the stop on the other end) then start pounding back down, this eventually worked.
Needle bearings are toast.
off to look for this "how to" _________________ 87 924S project, '83 944 engine,

Just for fun, here's the needle bearings, something is supposed to be along the edges of the races, I would think, to keep the needles and cages in there?

Yeah, there's supposed to be two plastic rings that center the bearings, but when they get old they break up and fall out. _________________ '84 944 -White, Brown interior
