Being a total dummy on some things. Do I get a Quick release hub to fit the the approximately 5/8" Threaded section pf the steering column or the under 3/4" spline?

Depends how you do it.

We welded on an extension (sleeved onto the main column) which went to 3/4" IIRC, so then welded the hex on that.

The nice, but spendy, way to do it is an adapter that bolts on in place of the stock splined hub, specifically for Porsche.

If you weld an adapter directly on the stock steering column shaft, I think you'll find the wheel is too close to the dash...

I wish it were a bit easier. On my street car I have a standard Grant Performance GT wheel that gives about a 2-1/2" offset from the end of the column. I am small person with very short legs so I run the stock seat as forward as possible and the clutch is still just a bit of a stretch at times. Secondly, the entire stock dash is long gone so I have to build a new one anyway.

So, I guess the method is to get a seat and plant it where wanted for the legs, realizing I could extend the pedals but don't really want to. Then place the wheel. Then after the cage is in with a cross bar just above the steering column, build a dash.
