Had a great time trying out the 'new' '83 944 at Road America this past June 13/14. Paul was along for moral support, and helped run for parts for the RV when the toilet started leaking! The car did great, ran on summer-only tires and stock brakes; RA probably not the best place to sort out a new car. Had a great time, 3:16 was my best time, a well-sorted 924S ran 3:00 laps we heard. Lots of shiny cars ran faster. We attended the warm-ups for the SCCA June Sprints a couple days later, here are some pics of that:

Front straight:

Turn one:

You can drive and park just about anywhere! Paul's Boxster, and the 944:

Turn three:

Coming in hot:

The beginning of the Carousel:

Canada corner victim, frozen rear brakes:

More Canada:

Turns six and seven:

Turn five:

Here's a couple laps in the 944, straight pipe and Borla exhaust make the car sound faster than it is!

Very nice. Makes me want to go there some day - in a car that actually has some horsepower....

It's a long track, 4 something miles, your turbo car would be perfect!

Nice!

I was up there for the Sprints, but not driving, just crewing for a friend in an F600. I too long to get my cars up there! The #77 ought to be able to challenge for the ITB lap record, with a properly-turning motor... estimate should be somewhere around 2:45...

Meantime the Prototype should be around 2:12-2:15 if competitive.
