Super, super sloppy and now I can't find reverse. Pulled it straight into the garage which hurts to do! Can anyone provide me a definitive list of parts I need to order to rebuild? I have been looking around in the search and see a lot of different information. I don't want to do any swap (trying to keep it original as possible) and also plan on changing the gear oil that I'm guessing is original to the car (can't find it in the service record being replaced).
Can anyone help with a parts list or link to a good article?
Thanks guys! _________________ Stock '77 924 73XXX Miles |

It is simple linkage setup on this car. I have 76 production car, replaced shifter with this one

Love it,super smooth operation. If yours is very loose I would check set bolt back on top of the trans. I have seen them back out. That might be a case if it has lots of slack. _________________ www.btr-chicago.com

Done! Thanks much. Probably cheaper than replacing individual bushing and what have you. I will also be checking the trans bolts as soon as I can get it up on my ramps.

Back atcha! How do I tell if my 77 is a 76 build? VIN is <1000 production so I'm wondering if I have one.

Been sloppy as far back as I can remember. It was my father's car and he never drove it a lot. I've had it a couple of seasons now and it's just getting worse. _________________ Stock '77 924 73XXX Miles |

My advice would be get a new shift stick with ball joint & also make it a short shifter while you are at it. |

If you have any welding capability it is short process to change the pin in the shifter handle to a new bolt. That and a couple of inexpensive plastic bushings will take out a lot of the slop. Cost was about $5. The process is shown in the How To section. Search for it with google as the sites search function is pretty weak. If you dig into the shifter that pin will be barrel shaped rather than straight as it should.
There are more plastic bushings back by the tranny that are supposedly harder to get to but I haven't been there yet. _________________ Mike
