|
|
I am right in the middle of the 944 plastic fuel tank conversion to my 87' 924-S. The removal of the fuel filler neck revealed the need for replacing the rubber sleeve that connects the top of the filler neck to the body. Mine is dry rotted and falling apart in my hands. Numerous phone calls to Porsche parts suppliers has resulted in the dreaded, "Sorry, that part is no longer available." I've researched the PET's and find the fuel filler neck for 85.5' - 89' 944s and the 924-S are the same part number, (one upgrade). Does anyone know if; 1) Will the 944 rubber sleeve, (93120128102), work on the 924-S? 2) Has anyone tried to fit one and if so, were they successful and what modifications were required? If the 944 sleevel won't fit does anyone have a spare 924-S sleeve they would be willing to part with? Thanks for any and all help.

I can tell you this....I put an 86 plastic tank in an 87 and used the sleeve from the 924s. That indicates to me the dimensions are the same, and the later part number should work.
Did you cross the part numbers for the metal tube? _________________ Toofah King Bad

That's the problem.... The neck is good. It's my 924-S sleeve that's shot. I can't, (don't want to), reuse it. I too am installing an 86 plastic tank in my 87'. I'm following your "How To" with a couple of modifications.

Right, but I'm saying the late part looks good if still available, assuming the metal part is the same. _________________ Toofah King Bad
