I recently bought a 1980 NA from a person that has no knowledge about the car or what works and what doesn't. In the course of testing the electrics I found that the stereo turns on as it should and when it does there seems to be a clicking sound coming from the area of the antennae. Nothing happens and the antennae resists light efforts to raise it manually. Do I have a power antennae and if I do could it be locked in the down position? How would you unlock it?
I can't really see it very well since it is behind the vacuum carbon canisters in the fender. _________________ 1981 924 N/A (Now the parts car)

Yes, it is a power antenna.
You'll have to remove the charcoal canister & take the side cover off of the antenna to see what's going on. The toothed drive cord is likely broken. It can be repaired. |

Ok I'll give that a go and see what I find.
I was wondering if it was locked or not. _________________ 1981 924 N/A (Now the parts car)
