My 1987 924S was rear ended the day before Thanksgiving. It was not my fault. The driver has Gieco Insurance and is processing a claim.

I have several concerns;

1. The car's market valve is not high, but I love the car. I'm concerned they are going to total it.

2. Where should I take the car for repair? Gieco has an Auto Repair Xpress center they want me to take the car. I life in Prince William County. Does anyone have any recommendations on a body shop? I am able to select the shop.

A 2011 Toyota Camary hit me in the rear-driver's side corner. It was thier fault. The bumber was pushed in, the rear driver side light cluster is smashed, and the body was smashed above the lights. It included the back part of the quarter panel, the weld joint between the quarter panel/back panel, and the left side of the back panel. The hatch appears to have been spared, but one can see a little buckling on the spoiler. I have not opened the hatch in the event it will not close. Perhaps the fasner pin is bent.

Thank you for your input.

Hard rear quarter hits always total 924/44s, even nice ones. Sorry.

Yours might be beyond wanting to fix, but, if still driveable, some dumb@ass, might be interested in it as a track car. I found a similar, but lighter hit, in the same place, I removed the speaker on that side and took a hammer to it. Scares off the shiny cars at the track!

you can often buy back the car from the insurance for very low if it's totalled.

In that case you would get money to go and buy another 924 similar to this one and you can buy back this one for crazy low amount to use it as a race car.
if you are not into track cars you should still buy back your car and keep the parts for spares

Or you could ask the money to repair it and take it to a body shop and have it repaired the proper way. In europe we dont total cars like that...i've seen cars that i tought were beyound any repair turn out like new because of some good shops with good rigs and welding skills.

Here is an update:

The other driver's insurance was Gieco. Let's just say that they are not easy to work with. I invested much time fighting for this little 924S.

They did not total it, becasue it would have cost them more money if they had. They provided a low ball claim quote. Luckily for the 924S, I know some people in the local body shop industry. Unfortueately, I had to inject some additional money into the project. Since it was getting partially sprayed, I opted to get the whole car painted.

It is still in the shop and should be completed soon. Let's hope it turns out well.

It's always good to hear about a 924 being saved!
