Hey guys,
The power antenna was DOA when I got my '81 N/A and I've finally gotten around to removing it and the questionable wiring job that accompanied it. I'm looking for a replacement manual antenna, but I'm not coming up with much, and I'm hesitant to get something universal since the hole is on the curve of the fender and I've had crap luck with fitting those in the past.
Paragon sells one and the price is right, but it's chrome, and since there's no chrome on the car, I'd really prefer black.
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. _________________ 1981 924 N/A 5-speed |

That's the one, Sheepdog, thanks.
Not finding many (or any) for sale in the States, though. The eBay listing says they won't ship outside of the UK.
I saw an old listing for one on US eBay that didn't sell and have just written the seller. I'll let you guys know how it pans out. _________________ 1981 924 N/A 5-speed |

Thanks, Michael! That one would indeed work, as well.
I ended up contacting the eBay seller over the weekend who had the HTA 770 and he is sending that out tomorrow. Pretty much the same as this one, but all black I believe.
He was kind of a ball-buster, though, and would only sell both of the Hirschmanns he had (a 770 and a 690) as a package, so...looks like I'm set for this car and the next one.
I'll post pics once I get them and install one, hopefully by the end of this week. They are pretty sweet, still in original boxes with instructions. _________________ 1981 924 N/A 5-speed |

Here is the finished product. The Hirschmann HIT AUTA 770 SA was a direct fit for the 924 fender curve. Also fits the Simca 1100, fyi...
Quite easy to install and even came with a new grommet for the pass-through into the footwell. The cable was the perfect length for the stereo location, as well, despite there not being a stereo currently installed in the car.
Here's the NOS packaging for the antenna:
And some of the awesome line drawings of the models it fits:
And a shot of the box, should anyone ever need to track one of these down:
And a shot of a colonoscopy just to keep things interesting:
The installed product:
And the perhaps overkill but thoughtful key so you can prevent vandals from snapping your aerial off and using it as a weapon:
The key in action:
And the antenna raised...
