Well, there are two options then. Either modify the manifold you have, or do as I did, modify a diesel manifold.
Your manifold has provision for injectors, which is good, but I don't know if it is possible to modify it, so it clears the suspension tower.
The diesel manifold clears the tower by a couple of cm. But there is not enough space for injectors/fuel rail on the inside of the manifold. That's the main reason why I cut it off and made the new plenum/runner assembly in stainless steel.
One funny thing about your manifold, is that it has air cooling for the injectors, never seen that before.
Btw, the cylinder head, is that the brand new one that was on Ebay.de (from Slovakia) ?

The 951 gearbox and transaxle are in place. Connected to the 931 clutchcover is the inlinesix mounted. The injected manifold need one additionel inch and so does the turbo That was expected though. The options are:
1. New manifold and no turbo. No go.
2. Adjusted manifold and smaller turbo. Ok.
3. Ajust the tower and beam with the grinder. Not first onthe ToDo-list.
4. Try to make room for the engine non centred and off axis. Maybe...
Donīt like Photobucket anymore. Will not pay $399 for third party pictures. Looking for another solution.

Good to hear news on this project
I'm running with the, what I believe, so-called 016/9(Audi) gearbox. The ratio on that one is too low for the 2.4 engine, first gear feels like the car could pull a mountain.....
951 gearbox would be the perfect choise. Don't know if I will do that upgrade, but a 944 gearbox is on my "to-do" list. I have a car lift in the workshop now, so a gearbox change is not going to be as difficult as when I replaced the original 4 speed with the 5 speed, many years ago. Car standing on jacks.........
There will be some work for you on both intake and exhaust manifold. Exhaust because you want a turbocharger.
Intake, well there is not at lot of space and when VW made the EFI intake manifold, they probably never imagined that anyone were going to put the engine in a 924. In the LT van bay, there was space for a large intake.

No excuse but life.

The six is on hold.
I bought a low milage 924S engine and I am tearing it to pieces. New seals, bearings, piston rings, belts, water pump and gaskets.
The head is ported, flowed and skimmed by more than 1mm. New harder ISKY springs with less coil bind. A new cam with at least 13mm lift and more duration. A chip with more ignition advance. 944 ROW pistons with 10,6:1 will raise total CR to 11,5:1.
Hoping for +190hp, a major improvement from the stock lazy 150hp. _________________ Carl Fredrik Torkildsen

Hi Gegge, this is a great route for a reliable, quick, responsive and fun car. Having driven Dan's old hopped up SE now a bunch of times, I can say this will be a fun combo. The higher compression and tune makes such the difference. I can't believe there isn't a lightweight clutch and flywheel in the car the throttle response is so quick. Really a fun way to go
