|
|
| The scrap yard near me is about to pull out a 1983 944. I would like to salvage any parts that would work for my 1979 924. Will the a/c compressor match? I would also like to get the wheels brakes and 5 lug system to convert mine from the drum and 4 lug. Also getting the rear spoiler. Anything you guys know that will or will not work? Tempted to take the engine if it is there. Bore that sucker out and fix it up right. |

944 engine would require mods to the frame to fit the mounts (well remove the 2.0 mounts) and you'd need the torque tube, transaxle and rear suspension carrier along with the hydraulic clutch hardware.
The seats and much of the interior will swap over along with the front sheet metal (if you want to add CGT flares to the rear to match)
The 944 rear spoiler upsets the aero balance of the 924 and really shouldn't be used without at least a deep front splitter or going to a CGT style body.
The 944 radiator is larger and can be adapted, but it can't be repaired and the replacement costs about the same as getting to 924's radiator rebuilt.
The overflow tank is a nice way to clean up the 2.0's engine bay, but a new one isn't that expensive. _________________ Stefan

Fyi, boring a 2.5 takes specialized equipment, and the proper piston are not cheap. _________________ Toofah King Bad

| If you are going to do an engine swap I suggest something outside of the Porsche family. Maybe Audi or VW. The easiest of which would be an Audi i5. The popular thing to do is an LS swap. |

the doors are ok, but they are out my 1 metric washer width. so fitting a metric washer packer and you have a spare doors. the 924 cant be used on the 944 tho. _________________ I KNEW white wall tyres were invented by Americans .....just not at Boeing.... to be fitted on the 737..... |
