I am reinstalling my pistons, what is the correct postion for the 3 rings, and does it matter how you install the circlip ?

Looks to me like you're supposed to install the circlip in such a way that it's end gap is as far away from the pick hole as possible..

I install the gap in the circlip 180 degrees opposite the pick hole.

As for the rings, the main thing is to make certain the ring gaps are not all in a line. What I try to do on mine is to install each ring gap ~120 degrees from the one above/beneath it so that the gaps are unlikely to ever converge in a line.

120° is correct for the 924.
Some engines call for 180° depending on the style of oil ring.
