Good morning, afternoon or evening gentlemen. My car has no top end poke, it's not too bad up to 3500 RPM and the fuel consumption is awful. Cold starting and hot starting is not a problem. I have rigged up my CIS tester like so.
With the valve closed the system pressure is approx 4.75bar
With the WUR electrical connection disconnected and the valve now open the gauge still reads approx 4.75 bar
Cold control pressure should be 1.4 bar - 1.8 bar I figure. Am I doing something wrong here ? Would the car even run with a control pressure of 4.75 bar ? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated before I pull off the WUR in this lovely British sunshine! |

| Have you checked the system pressures, for stuck pressure regulators and plugged lines? |

did you jumper the fuel pump relay when doing the cold test? Also make sure AAV and WUR electricals are DISconnected...
I have no idea once the aav and wur elements are warmed up how long they will take to cool down, so make sure engine is cold for a while...
then hook them up to do the warm test, should see a rise in pressure for this...
I'd also to a spray test of the injector into a glass bottle to see if one is not spraying properly...

Do you have to bleed off pressure when switching valve position? I haven't used this tool in a long time. _________________ Toofah King Bad

Good point. I didn't think to ask if you were bleeding pressure off the gauge itself. The relief valve is by your thumb in the 3rd pic, if you didn't know. |

Is the valve on the correct side of the gauge? _________________ 81 931 5 sp

Thanks for all your replies guys. I went back and double checked all your recommendations. I blew the fuel return line through, re-checked the test line connections and bled the gauge between each test. Still getting 4.75 bar with the valve open all closed. I pulled a spare WUR off my parts car and loosely plumbed it in on top of the engine. RESULT !!!! I apologise for the photo quality.
The cold pressure is now reading approx 1 bar, it was 7 deg Celsius when I took the readings.
Warm pressure was 3 bar and climbing. It looks like a pain in the arse to get the WUR off, but I'm excited to get it changed and see how the car responds now. Hopefully Santa will bring me a service kit in his sack too! |

The spring inside the WUR has probably rusted out...
I made a tool by cutting of the small end of an allen key and using a socket wrench to turn it

I stripped out the old WUR and fitted the 'new' second hand part. The small filter of the old one was absolutely covered in crud. Alarm bells should have started ringing when the part was only held on by one screw and the four screws keeping it together had been butchered. PO obviously had a play!
