Hello everyone,
Does anyone know when rear seat - seat belts appeared in these cars? I saw pics of a 1980 931 I was interested in that didn't have rear belts - or doesn't appear to.
Thoughts? |

I have a set of those from an '80 turbo car if you buy the car and want them. Enough room back there to belt in your groceries if needed. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

Well if they are from an 80 turbo car - then this car should have had them at some point, right?
Thanks for the offer, I'll be considering the car. |

I'm not sure you'd want to actually try and use those seats for anything, but they all should have lap belts from the factory. Most of use fold the seats down and leave them there or remove the seats altogether _________________ Stefan

In a technical term, I'm what is referred to as an idiot. So the past few years I've been goofing off with a little Honda Del Sol, but I have two small kids I'd like to be able to take along with me places. I have a soft spot for these cars having almost bought one a few years back, and test drove a 944 with the kids recently. For all the same reasons it did before, I'm coming back to the 924's now. The kids six and four y/o fit nicely into the back of the 944, so I guessed they would be the same in the 924. Then I took a second look at a picture, and it doesn't look like there are rear belts there. That'd be a deal breaker. |

We're all idiots here. It's a badge of honor for gladly owning one of the most maligned Porsches in the world. We all know better, but it's like marrying a librarian who's a yoga instructor in her spare time, no one needs to know otherwise
The 944 is based off the 924 so there should be belts and they may be tucked under the seat.
If they aren't there, they will bolt in from someone's car parting process. _________________ Stefan

I have seen some without rear seatbelts but I believe most 924's have the mount points under the seats and on the pillar. I may be wrong. Check this thread where I answered my own question. PM me with any questions.

You can see the mounting points here. Red arrow is for the tunnelmounting point.
