Does my wiper motor need to be replaced? The video will show you everything you need to know about the symptoms. the 10mm bolt being removed does not make a difference on whether or not the wipers work properly.

Mine has the same symptoms. I'm guessing the fibre wormwheel is stripped in the region of the wiper park position. I've ordered a new motor / gearbox assembly.

Had a hunch it might be that. Thanks.

I've just fitted a new wiper motor/gearbox assembly.
The wipers move much, much faster than before.
They're just like real wipers now!

Based on the video, You must change your wiper to prevent damage.

Did you even watch the video? The wipers are brand new. That is not the issue.

No, that has nothing to do with it. Nothing.

the teeth inside of it probably look like this:

They have a bad habit of grinding them up if you have a lack of lubrication in there. The other cause is a huge amount of friction from things like the linkage binding or being very hard to move. The only fix is a new gear, or a new motor. Once it's worn down to that point you're done. I had a spare motor and swapped the gear over and then lubricated it, and while I was at it I dremeled all the rust off the generator bits and cleaned it up.

How to fix your wiper motor (and yes, it is the same for the 944 as it is for the 924)

Do not just fix or replace the motor, but lubricate that linkage while you're at it to prevent the next one from having friction issues as well Taken care of and lubricated properly, they should last years on end.
