Hi guys,

Due to some unexpected issues my girlfriend and I are going from 22 juni till 11 july to Canada.

We're landing in Calgary, pickup a camper on Monday and are going to Banff, Jasper etc.
Then we we'll drive to Vancouver Island and going to Alert bay (is that possible with a camper?), Telegraph Cove, Tofino and Victoria.
We'll return the camper on 8th of july in Vancouver.

But then we have 3 days left, what should we do in those 3 days?
I think we can visit Vancouver on the 8th (the park, brigde, Chinatown).

I was checking on flying towards San Francisco, that could be possible maybe.

What do you advise for 3 days Vancouver?

Thanks in advance!

Gerben, I think you've seen more of North America than any of us! Congrats!

Victoria Gardens is a must see while on Vancouver Island. It doesn't matter if you are a garden type person or not, it is a special place, people come from all over the world to see it. Near Banff there is a Hotel at Lake Louise with a easy walk up to a Tea House where we saw a glacier calf.

It will be my fifth visit in 6 years indeed. I still have the feeling that I missed a lot, like the Henry Ford museum in Detroit, but flying from Vancouver to Detroit for only 1 museumvisit is to expensive...

Love the wideness of your landscape, the traveling, how relax you're driving, the nature, the hamburgers and pizza's

All right, thanks! We'll walk up to the Tea House.

Do you mean Buchart Gardens?

Never been there myself. . .

Next month we're going on a trip to Alberta and will be checking out the dinosaurs at Drumheller, and will see if we can make it to Dinosaur Provincial Park.

Great news Gerben !

I have lived in Vancouver for 35 years now and know it inside out. I will PM you a list of the good stuff to see and do and what is over rated tourist hoopla. And I hope you would have time for a beer while you're here ?!

Very sorry, of course it is Buchart Gardens. When we got to Tofino in July it was maybe 45F with horizontal rain from the wind, we retreated to the sunny side. and then the Sunshine Coast for a week.

I live in Victoria....so I will give my input.

The ferry ride from Vancouver to Swartz Bay (north of Victoria) is a beautiful 90 ride through many islands. The buffet on the ferry is very tasty and reasonably priced for what you get and the view is exceptional from the buffet.

Buchart Gardens....20km north of Victoria near the ferry terminal is a very beautiful place to visit. It is world famous. It's also a great place to take some quality photos with your lady or of your lady, so bring your camera.

Victoria has a large park called Beacon Hill Park.....with small man made lakes and gardens......it is free and quite relaxing to walk through.

Another possibility is to look for car shows if your lady is willing.

In Victoria (and possibly Tofino) you can do whale watching. They put you in special survival suits and strap you and other tourists into a high speed boat and blast you out to the whale watching area.....the boat ride is a big part of the fun and you usually get to see whales. It's an exciting boat ride.

Tofino is great for surfing if you are a surfer.

If you want a really first class hotel in Victoria....I would suggest the Oak Bay Beach Hotel. They have a heated out door pool next to the ocean that gets a bit steamy in the evenings and its softly lit.....romantic. The Empress Hotel is overpriced and the rooms are small......you are paying for the location and history....nothing more. Oak Bay Beach Hotel is the place to stay if you want to dump the RV for 1 night...but it is a $200 per night hotel.

You MUST do lunch at the Crow and Gate English Pub south of Nanaimo http://crowandgate.ca/ It is the best pub I have ever been to. Do not miss lunch there....the gardens are beautifully done and they have a pond out front that had 2 swans the last time I was there. Doing dinner there in the summer month when it is still light would be ok also. It is very pretty. Best to not go there between 12-1pm.....it is always busy. If the weather is nice you have the option to sit outside.

Thanks for all your advice! We're trying to incorperate as much as possible in our planning

We're looking into it and I hope to post our first planning tomorrow of wednesday!

Then we can also check if there is some room for some appointments!

One question: during Canada-day (1th july) we're in 100 mile house (for as far as we can see right now), it that interesting overthere?

I serious doubt much is happening in 100 mile house......the provincial capital of Victoria does have plenty going on including an outdoor concert and a pretty good fireworks display in the evening of July 1st.

You could try going to the top of Mt. Doug while in Victoria.

Have a picnic at Beacon Hill Park.

Check out the waterfront from Beacon Hill Park past Clover Point through Oak Bay.

Fish 'n Chips at Fisherman's Wharf.
