anyone have recent dyno test results? out of curiosity id love to see unmodified results, us vs. row , modified and what has been done, vs stock .. for both the 931 and the 24..

If its done on rollers its almost impossible to compare figures, just to uncertain. Before and after on the same dyno, same tyres,same tyre pressure etc can though be useful.

I will probably do a dyno test this summer on a dyno like this:



What do you call them in english? This to have some more consistent results, so I can measure before and after some tuning and see that the power graph looks like it should.

Anyone maybe have some results from a dyno like this?

I wonder if there is a measurable difference between a swedish and UK ditc box, I have both in the garage so if I get enough runs for my bucks I will test both, will probably also test KN air filter vs stock (I run stock filter but got a KN with the engine). Maybe I could get a friend of mines 931 s1 in the same dyno, would be very interesting to see..

So if I just can get my boost back I will reserve a time in the dyno sometime in the forthcoming weeks. I reaaallly hope the loss of boost was due to the broken seal in the bypass, or else I dont know what to do since everything else works .

Unmolested S1 on the same dyno as mine on the same day got peak of 160 at the flywheel.

Just booked a dyno session, May 29th. I'll post the results here. Anything over the stock 177hp would be OK with stock boost + IC.

I think i'll have a go this summer too..

I'm using:
-FMIC
-1bar
-port matched intake
-K27/26 turbo
-937 DITC

So it should put out more than stock...how much..i'm dead curious.

Rich, so you're 4HP lower than factory? thats ok giving the fact you did the test on rollers.

These two results were using the the same RoW S1 engine (I assumed its was an S2 but once pulled apart I learned it had S1 pistons and therefore circa 7.5:1 CR. The first using S2 DITC, same CGT spec turbo running circa 0.7 bar. The second running same engine and turbo in S1 car running stock dizzy running again 0.7 bar

3 runs in the S2 prior to the engine being pulled. With 944 FMIC and DITC it gave 193, 195 and 197bhp over the runs. I just have the 193bhp print out.


3 runs in the S1. Without an IC and S1 ignition. It gave 165,167 and 168bhp.


The only real difference was the FMIC and ignition. On the same rollers about 2 weeks between each other.

My new engine running forged pistons with 8.2:1CR, 944 FMIC, CGT rebuilt turbo and circa 0.7 - 1.0 bar will be dyno'd in the coming weeks.

First chart and the engine was making as much torque as a 951.

There's a lot of potential with intercooling and tuning.

The S1 engine was set-up very 'safe' by Porsche with low CR, conservative timing and very rich mixture on boost.
Most of this safety net isn't needed once you have the front-mount intercooler in place.

It will be very interesting to see what your new set-up achieves Steve.

Probably have seen it before, but here's a turbocharged 924 NA (9.3:1 CR, IHI ball-bearing turbo @ 0.9 bar, 951 IC, VEMS EFI) dynosheet.
Power (hp) and torque (lb/ft) is measured at the wheels.

Since then did more tuning (added few degrees of timing and later used xylene/gas mix and even more agressive timing), now sold.

We never got to the bottom of how well either were tuned. Assumption was there was more to be gained. The engine lunched a big end bearing after 30 or so miles on its first road drive. And yes, the power always tailed off before getting anywhere near the redline.

New engine is in and I'm hoping to turn the key later this week. Dyno results once run in. Then off to JMG Porsche to have it all retuned to get the most out of CIS!

So now the output is measured: power 134 kW (182 hp) and torque 276 Nm @ 0.79 bar of charge pressure. Engine output, not from wheels. Run surprisingly well on the dyno and by this I mean it didn't brake, explode, smoke or cause any hellish devastation. Boost peaked at 0.79 bar and then dropped ever so slightly, maybe to 0.77. A/F ratio was steady and there was no knock detected.

The guy who performed the test thought that it is running on a rich side a bit but we didn't made any adjustments because slightly rich ratio is better than lean ratio and now there seems to be some room higher boost pressure?

Some thoughts: day was warm, the shop was warm and the cooling system on dyno blew air more like under the car, not over. There was some airflow going to the IC vent too but the IC itself got somewhat warm and I felt perhaps it didn't work as well as it could have been. There is some power missing on the upper rpm range if you look at the picture. Any thoughts about that?
