If it's a fresh rebuild (meaning never been driven) by a reputable shop or Porsche transaxle specialist, I could see it being worth $1200-$1500 (assuming it has all new synchros and dog rings), but you will have an exceptionally difficult time selling it for that given the value of these cars.
The most I have paid for an unrebuilt G31 is $350, and that's only because it had LSD. $150-$250 for open diff. The bottom line is that these gearboxes all need so much work, you have to put many hundreds of dollars (if not thousands) to rebuild them. Parts are expensive and hard to come by. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Best chance is in a 1980 931 with factory five lug, flat dish wheels, and sport seats (the so-called "931 S"). FWIW, I have actually seen one 1980 931 that had four lug, but had the LSD. And I know of a 1979 924 S model that also had the 016Y/Z snailshell with LSD.
Very difficult to find though. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

I've got two 931 G31 gearboxes... one from 1979 and spare one from 81/82 I think... I also saw few others gearbox for sale but no one with LSD. 350$ for G31 with LSD... bargain. Wish to get just LSD for that... In Europe price for unknown shape 931 G31 is about 400-500 Euro... right now... and without LSD. With LSD I think that would be much more and more. _________________ 931 82' - 5000km after full engine rebuild

The factory LSD is from a late 930 so they are rare and very pricey if you can find one. p/n 930.332.053.03
I have seen a few for sale but you could probably get a Quaife cheaper. There is a Chinese one available now but I haven't heard of anyone who has tried one. Sometimes they are on E-bay. _________________ 84 944--924 Carrera GTS clone w/520HP Chevy 302 V8--RUNNING!

Having had a LSD in Spike, I don't know why anyone wants a LSD. It cost me over $1500 to have the G31 rebuilt and it took months to find the parts. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"
