okay so after ?? years, I fianlly have a playable racing game set up. I cobbled together an old thrust master wheel and pedals (and i mean old, its a game port model no force feedback, and i had to add an old midi port card to my pc from ye olde box o dead parts!) and picked up a copy of GT Legends for $12.00 .
now i have to learn how to play it , but its all working... any tips or tricks from you experts would be appreciated. download links above are dead.. _________________ Eric

OK, this is a long shot but I thought I'd throw it out there seeing as there's been a little bit of interest in the past...
I have a PS3 with GT5 (yes, I think Rfactor is technically a better simulator but it's quite involved, isn't as visually impressive and doesn't strike me as being as "fun" as GT5 but that can be argued separate over a beer while racing in GT5... anyway...)
I am setting up a one-make race for the '07 M3 (it's one of the default cars, so everyone has it). Unmodified but with racing tyres.
A slightly longer format of 12-lap races (those who play will know that 3-and-4-lap sprints are de rigueur) with a view to maybe increasing that, so that pit stops might become a real influence.
The track will change between sessions and perhaps per race... might have to vote on that. Ditto the car, which, if voted on strongly enough I will change to the preference of the majority (I chose the M3 because it's relatively foolproof to drive but fast enough to be exciting).
I will open this race (it's in the "Open Lobby" in "GT Mode") at 6:30pm PST (9:30pm Eastern?) every night. It will be open to 16 players.
(I realise that this will be about lunchtime in Oz and crazy o'clock in the morning in most of Europe... well, sorry, nothing I can do about that)
The room will be called "M3 only, 12 laps"
NOTE: You may have to change the location to "All" rather than "US" to see the room, as I am hosting it from Canada. Not 100% on that.
Please feel free to join in, one and all. _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

That was good fun. 10 starters; Oz, Yankeeland and Canuckia.
Same time tomorrow... _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

RX-7's at the Nürburgring GP/D circuit tonight. 12 laps again. I will open this race (it's in the "Open Lobby" in "GT Mode") at 6:30pm PST (9:30pm Eastern?). It will be open to 16 players.
The room will be called "RX-7's only, 12 laps"

When my car has a thumb controller, I will buy a GheyStation, but not before.

Oh, don't bother. I'm sure you're much more comfortable leaving your thumb where it is...

You know the gheystations now have these strange controllers with round knobs that you can turn riiiiiiiight or leeeeeeeeft and the car does the same thing on the screen! Brilliant!
You can even use your thumb on them! Though I might suggest you clean it first, but to each their own _________________ Stefan

I'll stop posting regarding these PS3 GT5 online races after this because no doubt it's becoming as tedious to read as it is to write, however, as a heads-up:
I still plan to open a race at 6:30pm PST -0230 GMT -each night (or, at least, weeknight... and no doubt sometimes life will get in the way). I generally only hang there for an hour-and-a-half or so but the race itself can stay open as long as someone's there.
I will leave in the title "Arcade" as I will limit the car selection to only one model from the Arcade Mode garage. This is simply to ensure everyone has equal cars. Otherwise, you inevitably end up with belligerent kiddies in maxxed-out Veyrons playing smash-em-ups and cutting every corner
So, you can look for races with a title such as;
"Arcade RX-7, 10 laps" or "Arcade MP4-12C, 5 laps" etc...
I'll keep it consistent like that so everyone can find it easily.
The couple of races I ran at the end of last week, Thursday and Friday, were great fun and had more than a handful of competitors, all of them surprising clean racers.
It'd be great to see a few of you there... _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

GREAT NEWS - GTLegends is now available CHEAP as a digital download. "StarForce" copy protection has been removed, so the updated product WILL run perfectly on Win7 and Vista.

I'm finding it difficult to get all gold trophys on the licences with a thumb controller on GT5. it's good fun, not tried GT Legends, but I tried a friends Rfactor with 1970's F1 cars, you can't beat it, driving round Kyalami in a Wolf/Cosworth, I didn't see tha coming when I was 10!
Not being in britain you wont remeber this;
check it out.
