Are there light weight pressure plates from the 911 that will fit and function in the 931? I think its from a 911 year 1972-1986..... whats the porsche part number of the Sachs part number. _________________ 1981 924 turbo/931

If you replace the S1 flywheel with a US-spec S2 flywheel, you can upgrade to the 911 pressure plate 915.116.001.27, which provides ~2x the clamping force of the 931 pressure plate. There is another version of the 911 pressure plate that has an alu housing to reduce weight...it is part number 915.116.001.16, but they are NLA from Porsche. I got lucky and found a NOS unit 3 years ago that I'm currently planning to put into the UWB project.
I'm not sure if you can use the 915.* pressure plate on the S1 flywheel. My 941 was originally a S1 car, but the motor that's in it is mostly S2 stuff so it has the S2 flywheel. I'm not planning to use any of the S1 flywheels I have because they're heavier than the S2 flywheels.
SPEC has some nice-looking clutch packages but they're not cheap. If you want to investigate their stuff as an alternative, you would need whatever setup they say is compatible with the M31.01/02 engine, which is presumably what you have. Best to check the engine code stamped onto the block to verify for certain. |
In another related thread: (http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=34417)
Here are two other alternatives, designed for the 911, but the pressure plates will work for the 931. The clutch disc will not work because it has 20T spline instead of the 931's 25T spline. I have not found a source for only the pressure plate from these kits...but haven't had time to call anybody either...

I think the Sachs number for the *.16 version is 3082 087 031, but still trying to confirm.
LUK also shows their part number 123 0085 20 as being a replacement for the 915.116.001.* parts, but I doubt it has the aluminum housing because it's listed for both the *.27 (iron) and *.16 versions. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Are you suggesting that I was unpolite? Well, I am sorry but engineer. white asked if there are aluminum pressure plates and I answered yes and by using the searchfunction it is relative easy to find the threads.
