I haven't checked it yet. The battery discharged during the night (yep, that's another problem:P) so i put it on recharge and focused on replacing the brakes. Front and back.
I'll tell you if it worked when I put the battery back.

Yes, the high and low beam are on separate circuits - even through the fuse box.

Check continuity between the bottom half of fuse 1 and pin A19. Then check continuity between the bottom half of fuse 3 and pin A18. If you have one but not the other, you could have a fault that I ran into with a fuse box. The innards of the fuse box are zinc plated steel, and the interconnect pins are a crimped type that corrode. The pictures below show a fuse box that is badly damaged, and you can see one of the pins that has corroded open.

I still have not solved this problem, (the left low beam having a dim yellow glow & the high beam in the round headlight not coming on) having checked everything I think the problem is wit the indicator switch as the following occur -

low beam on - I switch the main beam on, main beam comes on (not the left main beam). I repeat the above & main beam does not come on at all! This can happen randomly or all the time.

All lights off & pods down - I flash the main beam, LED comes on, the bumper driving lamps flash correctly. I repeat this, the LED comes on but the bumper driving lights do not flash. This happens randomly.

Apart from cleaning everything, I have replaced the headlight relay, cleaned the headlight switch (was clean anyway).

All other indicator switch functions work properly.

Any ideas & how do I clean the indicator switch, do I have to take the steering wheel off?

Thanks for the help[/list]

Dim hello glow is usually a bad earth (I think someone mentioned this earlier in this post).

The easiest way to check this is to run a wire from the earth connection at the LH headlight (brown wire) directly back to the battery earth.
If the headlight shines nice and bright its 100% bad earth. Then you need to follow the brown wire back to its earthing point on the body and find where its going wrong!

Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Santo

Thanks for all the rep;ies guys, much appreciated.

In the morning I cleaned the plugs on the steering column switch & checked the fusebox and relays, without any change.

The good news is that I fixed this problem yesterday afternoon. The solution was so simple I feel silly for not seeing it!

After my afternoon siesta & whilst having coffee, I thought hang on a minute the only thing I have not checked is the bulb itself, (because they are both six months old and have been used twice)TBH I could not be bothered to dismantle everything again, so I did!

I pulled the plug off the bulb and looked at the contacts, and guess what, the spade connector for the live feed was not sitting correctly in the plug itself, I refitted the connector & reassembled everything not really confident that I had fixed anything... switched the lights on & SUCCESS.

That was it, everything works as it should.!
