Hey Guys,

I'm removing the transaxle G31 (1980 Turbo), just wondering if anyone know which size the XZN type bolt is that holds the shafts in place..

As a guess i would say a 4 or 5 but looking at the socket kits with this end at a few places they only seem to be starting at 5. Wouldn't want to buy it and then find out it's a 4 haha

Cheers

Are you talking about the triple square bolts on the CV joints?

I have a whole complete set of brand new OEM-spec bolts I do not need. They came with the new pair of half shafts that I just installed on the Club Sport, and I don't need them because I put Stage8 locking bolts in. You should consider replacing the whole set because they are stretch bolts and are not meant to be re-used. If you want this set, you can have it for $20 + $15 USPS priority mail shipping. Let me know. Oh, and I believe these bolts are hex-head, not triple square, so much better for installation, removal and wear on the head.

The triple square that I use on my bolts is 8mm. Not sure how that equates to the sizes you mentioned...

They are not 6 point T40 or T45, whatever. Completely different series.
As Ideola says, they are triple square if you`re a Yank or 12 point in the modern (metric) ROW. M8 12point.

Have a heap of old ones you can have for postage cost. However I suggest a trip to your local fastener store. Buy 24 or 25 of M8 x 50 cap screws, 12.9 grade in black. SAME grade as OE. and theoretically superior to any ZP bolts, like I understand the Spec8 ones are. Not rocket science, merely basic bolt science. Around 50c ea.

What the heck are ZP bolts?

Like Ideola, I replaced mine with the same Stage 8 ones he has mentioned. I have 23 OE bolts left (one was missing its head). Just cover postage, but I'd imagine that would be a bit more pricey than what RC is offering.

Yep they are tripple square also known as XZN. Although i might get further searching for 12 point/tripple square.... which i did. It might just be best to buy some new then if they are the stretch bolts as Ideola suggested.

Thanks for that Guys

You understand incorrectly. The stage 8 ones I just installed are 12.9 in black oxide finish.

ZP == Zinc Plated?

No, Spec8 ones are not zinc plated.

Thanks for clarifying that misconception.
