What is the purPose of the shifter rubber boot support brace? If I were to remove it, would there be any adverse effects with shifting? This is on the "snail shell" tranny. _________________ Rob

The part I'm talking about is part #4 in the Transmission factory service manual page 34-55. It's description (on the next page) is "Support for boot." Maybe I had it too low and it seemed to cut the rubber boot when I put it in first. So I was just wondering if it is really needed or not. _________________ Rob
