K27 hybrid is ready to be installed.
S1 turbine housing and turbine wheel, K27 compressor and wheel.
new axle,bearings,seals...balanced statically and dynamically.

Took the head off today, in the weekend i'm taking it to Budapest to a shop for new springs, seats, guides, seals.

From merriam-webster.com:
Definition of HYBRID
1: an offspring of two animals or plants of different races, breeds, varieties, species, or genera
2: a person whose background is a blend of two diverse cultures or traditions
3a : something heterogeneous in origin or composition : composite <hybrids of complementary DNA and RNA strands> <a hybrid of medieval and Renaissance styles>
b : something (as a power plant, vehicle, or electronic circuit) that has two different types of components performing essentially the same function

— hybrid adjective
— hy·brid·ism \-brə-ˌdi-zəm\ noun
— hy·brid·i·ty \hī-ˈbri-də-tē\ noun

In this case, 3a is the definition in use, as the turbo is a composite of K26 & K27 components.

i'm wondering if there will be enough space for this K27. i've seen other K27 compressors...but mine looks a bit different...there is only about 10-15mm of space left between the K26 compressor and the engine block...i hope the K27 will fit.

K27 compressor backplates are one size only. Not sure about K29 or K31.

Do you remember the size of the compressorwheel? 3060 or something similar?

i'm worried about those bolts that sit outside of the contour of the backplate.
i'll check what wheel i have.
in the future i might replace the wheel with a K28 wheel and machine the K27 compressor.

i have asked the shop who rebuilt this turbo for the part number of the compressor wheel...i am also very interested in this...as i just realized that the compressor has been machined to fit this wheel i dont have such deep measuring calipers but with my home tools...the inducer is about 47mm in diameter.

some news..took the old turbo out...it is in PERFECT condition..i dont know when it was last rebuilt(the little plaque fell off but i have it)...it worked perfectly(no smoke..no oil loss) and the wheels bearings are perfect.
the new one..well its new..and it barely fitted...there are 4mm left between the engine block and the compressor.

Is this the hybrid you are referring to:

"The new hybrid turbo in it sounds sick and pulls 200rpms sooner, so its out of vaccum at 1800RPM
Makes and keeps 0.69bar and pulls strong from just over 3000rpm and keeps on past 6000rpm. Not too fast, just right for the street but still plenty fast, its up to 100mph in a blink of an eye."

No, the 931 runs a CGT turbo with a billet compressor wheel(thats why i called it a hybrid there). Its nippy and responsive and sounds nice.

The GTR hybrid turbo in this thread is a completely different animal.
This is a true hybrid as its part K27 part K26.

Just found this thread again....

here is Morghens turbo tucked away in its new home since earlier this year and boosting up to 1.2bar in my car, as is his WUR helping fuel it .....

Does a great job, boosts well and sounds awesome via the ex BassGT's custom stainless exhaust, also put to great use on my car
