I ordered these off of ebay for my 80 931:

They were listed at 16x8 48 offset. Will these bolt right on to my stock 931 setup? Any tire size recommendations for front/back? I need to buy rubber.

I am going to paint the centers a dark grey to match the bottom stripe on my two-tone 931. Going to look sweet! Hopefully... : )

8 seems a bit wide for the front. Pretty much guaranteed to rub the spring, unless you use coilovers.

Will also need some some chunky spacers front and rear as these will be too far inboard with a ET48. Stock was ET23 front and the ET23 rear had an additional 21mm spacer and therefore ET2 in reality.

Good luck as they look great. Was looking for some BBS RS's for mine but pretty rare and very pricey to fit my car.

Yikes, so I am looking at getting 25mm spacer in front and like a 45mm in the rear? In addition to that, the 8in front won't work without suspension modifications?

Looks like I got in over my head. These might be going back on eBay : (

Stock is around et 52, these could fit wiht a coil over conversion up front (doesnt cost many$). Takes about an inch more space inwards. It helps a lot to have non-racy camber angles. Rear should work, I have 8īs at the rear from an 964 C4, et 53 if i remmber correctly. But I dont know how they would fit without -2 deg camber, probably alot tighter.

Dont rule them out yet, these are really cool wheels !

Thanks for the replies guys. I am getting a little confused though. So the rears should fit if I adjust the camber? Do I use the stock spacer from my 80 931?

I am not opposed to getting coilovers up front. Any tips on where I can get a good affordable kit? I will still need 25mm spacers up front with the coilovers, right?

Thanks for your help so far! I love this board!

I bought my kit from rallydesign.co.uk, the only shing i had to modify was to drill out a bigger hole in the upper spring seat. But i guess you have kits "over there" to if its expensive to order from abroad. If you are lucky you wont need a spacer.

For the rear I think i run with the stock spacer on when i have the 8" on.

edit: I know a guy that runs 8" design 90 (ET53 if i remember correct) up front on his 924S, so if it works for him its a good sign..

Groundcontrol.com and Paragon Products both have coilover kits in the $200 range.

Be aware that if you stiffen the front without altering the rear spring rate as well the car will push (right, Dave?).

I apologize for making this also a suspension thread, but Im new to the game, and not the best wrench. I found these:

Ground Control:
http://www.ground-control-store.com/products/description.php/II=556/CA=97

Paragon:
http://www.paragon-products.com/Coil_Over_Kit_Front_p/944arhk-r-xdo.htm

Any reason to spend the extra $50 for the Paragon kit? Both allow to enter desired spring rate. I don't plan to track the car, but do enjoy a little aggressive driving from time to time. Does 200 for the front with a stock rear sound right?

I also need to buy rubber for the 16x8 wheels. Any tips on tire sizes to ensure best possible fitment on my 931?

That's correct sir~! But, a day pushing the car around the track is better than fishing, working, mowing the lawn, so there!

PS, 225/50R16s on all four corners will work. The fronts might require some fender rolling, coilovers, negative camber. I have 225's on mine but with a 7" rim instead, not much space between the tire and coil.

Thanks for the reply! Would it make any sense to try and stretch a 205/215 on the front for better fit? Or maybe a lower profile tire? I dont know a lot about tire geometry, so not sure how that would affect ride/handling.

I just got a set of these Star Specs delivered, and here's a chart for them, for example.

Take a look at the rim sizing column. Click on the 'specs' column.

After doing a bunch of reading, it looks like 215s should fit on 16x8's without much of a fuss. Im just wondering if that will help with the fitment up front. I can get the Dunlop Direzza's in 215/50/16 up front and 225/50/16 in the rear. What do you think?

With a 48 offset, I will still need spacers on the front, correct?

Not sure on the offset question. You might just want to install a wheel with it's current tire and take a look. The 53mm is the rear offset on the D90s I have and 55mm is the front.

I have 225s on all four, and steering isn't too bad. You could go 225s on all four and rotate them over the life of the tires. But the skinnier tire might fit better as you reckon.

I have 16x8 52 offset with 245 rears, 225's front and they fit fine with no suspension mods on my 80 931. For your lower offset rears, I'd go 235's instead of the 245's, or increase the camber with 245's.
