Speaking of Rock Auto, I just ordered Beck Arnley inner TREs (Golf Mark I, Part #1013475) for $9 each!
I'll report back on whether they fit. _________________ Toofah King Bad

Definitely post whether they fit - could be a huge savings if one just needs the inside. _________________ "Never get out of the boat. Absolutely goddamn right. Unless you are goin' all the way."

Rasta Did you ever get this figured out? I got the 477-419-803B for my 77NA from Autohausz. They were by OCAP and expensive at about $96 each. The Lemforder(SP) I found were all about $135. If there is an inexpensive alternative it out to go in the tech section. _________________ Mike

Just discovered a very shagged out inner tie rod ball on my 931, very keen to hear if the VW rods fit. Over here in Aus, the Porsche tie rod costs $220! |

just picked up a Mark I Golf tie rod assembly and it's 20mm shorter than the 924 assembly??? threads are the same and the tie rod end is the same but it's too short.
Part number of the golf rod is 171 419 804, made by febi bilstein.
Is there a different part number for a longer rod? |

ahhh. found a Meyle data sheet for a 191 419 804 that is 18mm longer than the 171 419 804. That'll do nicely |

I just checked with Rock Auto for an '86 Golf and the Meyle website. It appears(no guarantee) that it is for a non power steering and is Fleenor PN FL937A and FL938A. Cost in US about $22 with $10 shipping, but it is marked as a ROW part, not for us cars. Don't know were to get the Meyle part. _________________ Mike

got quoted $148 through VW, or $120 through Fry's spares.
Will resist the urge to support my local dealer and order a $22 one from BMA parts online. |

They fit!!!
finally got em on the other day. I ordered a pair of complete tie rod assemblies and the tie rods are an exact match. Interesting to note the VW Golf tie rods ends are a bit different from the 924 though, they still fit, but are doglegged. RS tie rod end fits on the left side of the car and vice versa. but, you can just use the rods with the porsche tie rod ends if you want. |

Get them while they are hot:
AutohausAZ.
I presume you ordered two of these, and not a left and a right? _________________ Toofah King Bad
