Before
After
I kinda like the after better myself. And yes, it is as good on the inside as it looks on the outside. Haven't started tuning things yet but she howls like a pack of banshees released from the gates of hades. |

Very tidy! Is that the big valve head, or was that for a different project? How 'bout some specs? _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Hmm, specs. I don't want to tell all. But here are a few tidbits.
Yes, it has one of the big valve heads I got my hands on, full P&P, manny matched, all that, etc.
Cossie alloy pistons, custom cut to work with the big valve head.
Elgin race cam
10.5:1 CR
45 DCOE
Fidanza Al flywheel
Same bursch jet-hot header as before, straight pipe to the supertrapp. L-O-U-D, 'specially when she comes on cam. I think this might change a little as I get the timing dialed in.
The tensioner has been moved of course to accommodate the change in head-block geometry. I think I'll go with an adjustable cam pulley but haven't found one I like yet.
Bottom end has had some work done, mostly for longevity, but has been balanced, lightened, etc., enough so to make things interesting.
There's also some really trick stuff there that's not obvious too that the builder did, like that's an S2 throttle cable on the webers that's wrapped back around on itself with the pulley vertically at the back of the carbies. And, he replaced the coolant tank with a 944 unit to clear out the front of the engine compartment. I just stood there looking at it and there's little cool things all over the place where its been tweeked and changed that you just don't notice right away.
So anyway, I still have a bunch of stuff to do, and have to get through the break-in period but wow, it really has shown some potential. This ain't your grandma's toofah. |

Wow 10.5:1 that's some impressive compression! I'm going to steal that idea about the 944 coolant tank Where'd you get those plugs for the old injectors? _________________ 81 924 N/A

Looks great. . .and you probably know this, but there are some adjustable pulleys for Rabbit Mark I that will work. _________________ Toofah King Bad

Yeah, 10.5:1 took us a little while but we were able to do it with a combo of pistons, head, head gasket and block "adjustments" to get it all to come together and hit the targeted CR. So far so good on pump gas.
That 944 tank is one of those "Duh, I wish I'd thought of that" kind of things. A very clean idea that un-clutters the front/top of the engine compartment and very simple too. IDK if it would work with a regular 924 raddy but I guess it would, why not? Simply a matter of fabrication.
The plugs for the old injector holes in the head are simply injector plugs with a penny (or was it a nickle) placed at the bottom of the hole, then the plug was screwed in with a little permatex. They're taking vacuum not pressure so they just have to seal.
Yep, phenolic spacers.
Thanks for the tip on the cam pulley. I will check that out. |

anything else sitting in the drive behind it or we will start calling you runovermoore parts 924,

Head work, 10.5-1 compression, hot cam, Webers. If he sees less power with this set something is wrong with the universe. _________________ 81 924 N/A
