Be careful mixing and matching components between AIR and GT Racing. They don't all have the same molds. The front clips are essentially designed as a complete system, and are unique to each manufacturer, such that you won't be able to bolt on a GT Racing lower valance with the AIR front fenders. Also, the fiberglass quality is significantly different between the two companies. Have you contacted that eBay seller in Florida? He's got a nice looking pseudo-D-Prod front clip, although I can't comment on the quality.
FWIW, I believe the AIR kit is the closest to factory styling, but I could be wrong about that. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made

GT Racing is always hard to get ahold of - he's always busy racing! But his customer service is indeed excellent, that's not indicative. So give him a day or two, then try again... _________________ Vaughan Scott

All this info coming in makes me very happy I decided to join you guys here, pity I didnt do it long ago. So Ok I will give GT-Racing some time, no problem we can afford some anyway.
Regarding mixing of components I was actually going to use the rear fenders and the D Prod spoiler from AIR although these do not go with each other since they are placed on different body panels, and using the front fenders and spoiler from GT- racing which are also recommended to go with each other. I cannot comment on workmanship since I have never seen any products from either manufacturer, I will either have to keep my fingers crossed regarding workmanship or maybe decide elsewise. I have seen both spoilers on D-Prod model pics, Its hard to guess which is the original spoiler though since no info on this is given anywhere. What Im sure of is that this project has in some way leaked out to other motor /racing enthusiasts in Malta and since we are a very small island and no-one seems to have ever heard of a D-Prod 933 a bit of curiousity is birthing. I bet my mech opened his mouth about it. No one would dream of doing something like this to a 924 here since they are still a bit expensive to buy, to give you an example a 1981 924 lux recently was put for sale for Eu 5800 its condition is moderate though. So Im gonna break the barrier on this one I guess. Nothing grand for other parts of the world Im sure.

I clicked on the link, but I cant see anything except a rear valance for a 924/944 model.

Yes, he doesn't currently have any of the D-Prod stuff listed, but he has in the past. You should send him a message via eBay and ask him to send you pix. You might find them to be an interesting alternative. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Ideola, is it true you supply Bursch exhausts too? and if so are they identical in design with the MSDS unit, I might need one after all (unless emoore924 wants to sell his D Prod 4 in 1)cause it seems that the only way of getting a 4-2-1 exhaust is to modify an off the shelf unit, also
on another thread someone suggested I go for MSDS not saying what for though, Dont want anyone to feel bad.
Thanks

I can get the Bursch, but they are a bit more than the MSDS. Given the similarity in design, I might be inclined to get the MSDS unit since it is less expensive, and you'll be modifying it anyway. No point in getting it coated here since you'll have to cut and weld anyway...then get it ceramic coated by a local supplier. However, Bursch do provide a nice exhaust system from the downpipe back that you might consider.
The puppy is a girl, and we named her Josie (short for Josephine). She's doing great, we've already got here partly trained to ring a set of bells on the door handle when she wants to go out! Smart pup for only 8 weeks old! _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

MMM can you take a look of what Vince Ponz had to say about the Bursch header in this thread, although my other friend ROCCO R16V recomends them, I respect both recomendations though.
Now Now take it easy with the puppy, next thing you know she would be wanting to drive your wide body around the block.

I believe the MSDS and Bursch are nearly identical. I can't comment on Vince's experience, but I know that Vaughan had either an MSDS unit, or one that was based on that design, and I know for a fact that that unit suffered similar failure. However, we attributed it to excess heat stress from being wrapped, as opposed to being properly ceramic coated.
As for the Stahl header, I can get those too, but they are more than 2x the cost of the MSDS. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Ok I will look at the 3 of them closer then. Will talk to my man(Header) here about the mods to see what he thinks and says. Mybe he has some kind of solution too , My choices are only 2 though, cause I dont think the factory exhaust will do the job correctly with those engine modifications . I emailed that guy from e bay too regarding fenders etc, will wait for his reply. Im trying to get this project well organised so that when work starts there will always be something to do and always something done. The body work doesnt need much work done except the fitting of the fenders/spoiler which will then need to be prepared for paint. I have dismantled what I think is going to be useless weight on the car, nearly finished the interior (dismantling and putting a satin black finish to it cause I like black interiors) once I get the engine out I can start ordering engine parts and body parts, I intend to work on the body myself while the mech works on the engine ,i think thats good time managment. In the mean time the engine bay will be steam cleaned and painted and other odd jobs or preparation can be done. But one definetly has to know what is available and what is going to be troubelsome so that these can be rectified before being tackled, at least on paper. I want my 6 year old daughter(only child, em It took me 40years to decide if I should get a wife or not so you young guys here dont hurry getting married pro advice here) to remember me when she sees this car cause she also seems to be very very excited about Max. Should my health interupt in any way and i wont get to finish the project my brother in law has promised me to finish Max up just For Cherise(daughter) Gonna name the car FORCHER TEAM PORSCHE (Silly Me) on an upper front windscreen banner just to let her know I did it for her.For now though health is good and getting better, spirit is high, Hope this works.........

Clarification - yes, I've run (only) MSDS headers. First one cracked after excessive off-roading on curbs... second one blew open, split a couple of tubes - too much heat, compounded by wrap. Would've been fine if we'd coated it instead of wrapping it. _________________ Vaughan Scott

So it seems that although you managed to destroy 2 headers you still prefer MSDS... noticed. At least have you coated the 3rd one?? So it also seems like wrapping worked against the header. This is all high tech info for me guys. Worth a lot, Im feeling I could talk to anyone about modifying a 924 with the ocean of knowledge you guys have offered. pity we are not all 10mins drive far from the nearest pub/bar, could all have a pint together.. on me ofcourse.
Seems that ceramic coating would do fine?? Wrapping is a big no no unless I go for well done T Bone right?

Hi Rob thanks for the pics, they are D Prod right? I noted the thread was back in 2002, do you have any pics of the car finished. Also did the Florida guy supply you with the rear fenders too ,I cant see them on the pics, What happened to the car is it still running??
Thanks a lot
