I believe the 4:11 used in the 80-82 US 924 would fit. |

I've just bought a 4.78:1 out of an audi diesel, but won't know for sure if it'll fit for a few weeks. Will let you know when I've tried it. _________________ Andrew

They should both work. The only ones they won't fit is the 944 S/S2 and 951. In these the front pinion bearing is larger and the pinion shaft is 4mm longer than all previous 016's. |

Yes, the shorter ratios will work in the 924S transmission if you can find them. NLA for many years from Audi/VW. My advice if you can find one:
- Have it tested before installing, especially the pinion gear. I use a dye penetrant test (Magnaflux makes the kit I use) which will reveal surface cracking.
- Have the pinion depth set using the factory VW385 tool set. Correct set-up is critical to keeping the pinion from breaking. Bluing or eyeballing it doesn't work.
Good luck! _________________ Kevin
