|
|
While looking at one of the many coupon books that I constantly get from Harbor Freight, I noticed a "MASTER fuel injector tester" kit. I downloaded the manual, and it states that it is compatible with K and E jetronic systems, and includes a CIS ball valve. Granted, it's $80, but it is compatible with a WIDE variety of cars, and doesn't look to be terrible quality.
This is a link to the thing online.http://www.harborfreightusa.com/usa/itemdisplay/displayItem.do?itemid=97706 _________________ proud owner of a 1979 924 Sebring Edition with a 931 trans that looks horrible but somehow runs... |

The US General brand is JUNK. I got exactly one use out of my US General leakdown tester before the gauge failed. I wouldn't want that to happen with fuel in the lines
You can get the Hoffman CIS Tester from me for $57 + shipping. Send me a PM if interested.

The best I can do on price is $57 + shipping, so I can't save you a bunch over the JC Whitney price, BUT, the good news is for folks overseas, we can now avoid having to order through them, ship to me, and then repackage and ship out again.
For reference purposes, here's pix of what's included in the box, and CORRECT images of the CIS version:

I'm getting ready to drive down to the local Harbor Freight and buy their $16.99 Fuel Injector Pump Tester. I'm in a flash flood warning area (who'd a thought SoCal would have flash floods and tornados?), so I decided to wait til tomorrow.
I suspect that the fuel pressure regulator is defective on my friend's 96 Jetta 2.0L, and I just need to see whether the pressure regulator is varying the pressure on the fuel rail (as vacuum from the intake varies). |

I suspect that the fuel pressure regulator is defective (fuel pressure too high at low rpm/high vacuum) on my friend's 96 Jetta 2.0L (Motronic 5.9), and I just need to see whether the pressure regulator is varying the pressure on the fuel rail (as vacuum line feeding it from the intake manifold varies). |

yeah... the name "harbor freight" is usually synonymous with junk, but I saw that the pic for the CIS tester looked correct in the manual. _________________ proud owner of a 1979 924 Sebring Edition with a 931 trans that looks horrible but somehow runs... |
