Replacing the worn, stock shift lever.
I'm sure this has been covered before, but just in case.
1st, lift the leather boot

2nd, lift the rubber boot then remove the C clip from the shift knob and all comes right off.

Exposed shifter.

3rd Remove C clip from shift pin and the shift tube slides right off.

This is the lever we are replacing the stock one with; it is aluminum with adj. shift throw. Tools need are a Flat head Screw driver, 4mm Allen wrench & 13mm socket.
4th, Use the 13mm socket to remove the 2 bolds holding the shifter in place.
This is what it looks like out.

5th, Push the base up the shift lever to pop the Plastic cup holding the base of the lever, now the lever will pop right out.

6th Pop the new lever in the cup just as you removed the old one. Bolt the base back in..

7th Reconnect the shift to the new pin, replace the C clip.

This is what it should look like.

8th Replace the rubber boot, add the shift knob of your choice and you are done..
Notice the end of the shift pin that is the wear that causes sticky shifting.

I would be interested in purchasing a couple if the price isn't out of sight.

Next time the car the org. was bought from is in town, I'll take pix. lindsey copies many people, the pullies are what Broadfoot racing had been selling them for years (and a few other things).
Back in the 90s, the guy who created these, from TN. I think, offered them first longer with shift knob built in (that is what is in the race car) and some wanted that, others didn't, and it cost less to do it this way..
I had 10 made at a bit over $160 each, as I needed 5 for our track cars & my 924S street car.

any comments on how this new shift lever feels?

or how much throw can be reduced before the linkages start rubbing?

and i was wondering how the shift knob is secured to the lever

I thinking about making one of these from a bar stock Aluminum by using a lathe and a milling machine at my school. My question is, can you use the stock shifter knob with your new shifter lever? (Round Vs. rectangle) I guess I could make it rectangle shape, but would be harder to do.
