I'm thinking about replacing my 914 autocrosser with an '88 924s. Looking for opinions... Does anyone have experience with the following setup:
ENGINE: Autothority chip, K&N, larger throttle body, header, exhaust, ported head.
SUSP: corner balancing, Koni yellows, strut brace, negative camber, stiffer coils and torsion bars, R compound tires.
I don't expect the car to handle quite as well as my 914, but the extra HP sure does generate more smiles.
thanks |

The car should be able to equal the 914 in handling, with the exception of being a little heavier (I believe) and not rotating quite as quickly. That might hurt you a little in autox, due to the transient nature...
Anyway, the suspension work doesn't seem like an issue, just have to get it sorted out... might want stiffer bushings too, depending on your preference.

I say 1200 pound springs. 1100 pound springs are for grandmas.

As always, very helpful advice from the peanut gallery.

you're in vernon? i'm not sure exactly where that is, but check out an event at Ft Devens with the NER PCA. there are lots of 944's that show up and you can ask them what they use for suspension changes. everyone has a different opinion. is this going to be a dedicated a/x'er? if so then go crazy with the stiffest setup you can find as long as you keep the front/rear spring rates roughly equal (most like a little more spring in the rear).
ps- you realize that the engine mods you listed will put you in a modified class where you'll get spanked?
