When you're rebuilding, you should check the cylinders for out-of-round and tapering. To do this, you need to measure near the top, middle and bottom of each cylinder both from front to back and sided to side with an inside micrometer. There's a limit to how much of a difference is allowed between the readings - beyond that the cylinder needs to be rebored. |
