Scorpio, you can't possibly expect every rule of thumb that has been said by C.Bell to apply to every single car?

C.Bell considers 3-5 psi a small boost, 10+ psi high boost, and that is required on 924 na head to produce more than 200hp. 250hp is DOUBLE of the power of the Euro 924!

Cheapest upgrade to standard 924 is to buy 944 drive shaft and 951/S2 gearbox and convert to Mustang clutch disc with Spec Stage 3 pressure plate. That will be around 1000usd if you do work by yourself.

I wanted to use just S2 gearbox but it's impossible due to the fact that 944 gearbox has longer main shaft than 924 one. It's possible vice versa (924 box in 944 using adapter and it's been done many times).

And failure of the stock drive shaft is due when it's worn out. In Andrew's case, it's entirely possible that old(ish) bearings coupled with 8000 rpm led to accelerated wearout, thus vibrations and -> failure.
Remember, he's using the car in a "bit" different manner than most of us also

Really think that driving style has a much greater influence on tranny life than HP. How about 250cc of common sense per tank of gas.

Sure my mum could pot around trouble free for years with a 400HP SBC up front whereas Scorpio or myself have a likely chance of disintegrating the box before the first burnout.

Not rocket science or anything you need a formula from a book to work out.
