|
|
My 924 from 1981 has a short oil dipstick. Now i see that there are many 924's with a long dipstick in a pipe. My dipstick is putted directley into a hole in the motor.
Is there anyone who can tell wich models has a long one and short one?
Can i modify this? |

Can't help other than saying my '81 NA has a long dipstick... My copy of PET (85) also shows the long variant.

haven't seen a short stick ever. I've got a 81 model and have a long one. _________________ "Rule: Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun." (C. Bell)

Both!
Was a short on the original engine that got trashed and a long on the (newer) replacement engine. Car is a 78, replacement motor came out of, i think a 1980. _________________ Mars Red '78 Euro 924 n/a

OK, try this for weird:
'81 NA => long stick, with tube
'80 931 (a.k.a. 941) => short stick, no tube
'80 931 (a.k.a. UWB) => long stick, with tube
Maybe the changeover happened mid-year in 1980? _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

My 1980 had the guide tube, the 77 parts car did not.
The pan from the 77 was is better shape, so when I rebuilt the engine I fit the guide tube to the 77 pan. You can drill out the dipstick hole and press in the guide tube, if you undersize the hole just a touch. _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |
