have 1980 931 with just discovered serious stress and cracks in the firewall surrounding the master cylinder for the clutch and brake - this will require an expensive repair $2000 - 2300 cdn. to replace part of the firewall,
this was caused by no reiforcing added to the firewall in the area of the master cylinder when the 931 was created and changed from mechanical on the 924s to hydralic.
I am posting so others can check their cars and hopefully get a repair at a much lower cost than me because of far less dmamge to the car.

not that expensive a repair just a pain in the ass.

300 is what it should cost, reweld the cracks and weld a patch to stiffen the area

I've thrown away 4 cars so far that a donor piece could be done.

I f you need a section of firewall from that area let me know as I'm scrapping a car in the next two weeks.

the cracks on my car in the posting are 5 to 6 inches long and are actual splits in the firewall. The metel is 1-2mm thick only in the area of the splits so the section to be replaced is large and have access to old 944 body to get panel for replacement, thank anyway for the offer. Norm (dogstar)
Car has 86,000 mls on clock and otherwise is nearly perfect.
