Nice, that's a very solid clean looking car, over here in the UK they're usually rotten by that age - sadly. _________________ Mars Red '78 Euro 924 n/a

Ideola,
If you go the suspension part of this site you will find an article on how to polish you alum wheels to chrome like. I have pictures there too.
It is a lot of work but I have done 5 flat dish wheels and four fuchs wheels and they look very good. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"

Yep, I've read it multiple times. I like ReMo's automated wheel polisher video, though. Looks like it would take some of the work out of it...still would like to know how the wheel was mounted and what he used for the "belt". _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

| Quote: | So it looks like you used a drill press to drive it...what did you mount the wheel itself on, and what did you use as the "belt"? Very cool idea, BTW! And the results are stunning!

I used a drill. The wheel is laying on a little wheel from a pram thats in a vice. For the belt i used bicycle straps. I didn't think about how i coud do it. Just i looked was i have and so the idee was born. It works fine but it takes a long time to polisch four wheels.
The wheels are one piece and the bolts where made of plastic just for show. I drilled all the holes up and threaded them. Then I placed Stainless bolts in it. |

First I used;
Waterproofed Sandpapier 400
than
Waterproofed Sandpapier 600
than
Waterproofed Sandpapier 1000
than
Waterproofed Sandpapier 1600
than
Waterproofed Sandpapier 2000
After that I used a polishing brush (in a dril) with green polishing paste and I finisched them with carwax.
After each moment I had worked on it, my face was totaly black |

So I'm assuming you used the sandpaper while the wheel was turning on your wheel polisher contraption, and then used the polishing brush with the wheels stationary? What did you do on the mesh portion of the wheels, how did you get all of the crevices to clean up? Did you use a bottle brush or something similar? _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

I used the sandpaper and polishing brush for the rim edges while the was turning on my wheel polisher contraption.
The spokes sanded I and brusched with spray (bottles). |
