So I got all the vacuum lines properly connected as well as the timming done after the engine rebuild and i notice sometimes the car would just loose power then come back then lose power again and its wierd, its like 3 out of 4 cylinders are firing so im guessing no spark. the spark plug wire recently changed because i had this problem before and it was a bad wires or dist, rotor. these wires still look good, i mean it does get pretty hot in there with the wires just carelessly hanging there. has anyone ever had this problem before?? what else could this problem be????

this was one of the reasons my car didnt pass smog emissionss because it was too weak for the dyno to read it so the guy didnt know what to tell me haha

but thanks for the help...

What spark plug wires are you using?

Is your distributor cap/wires hitting the hood?

Spark plug wire condition has nothing to do with their appearance...

Use only THESE unless you like replacing them. Some places guarantee this set for the life of the car. This set has the proper heat shielding.

Tell me more about this statement:

"this was one of the reasons my car didnt pass smog emissionss because it was too weak for the dyno to read it so the guy didnt know what to tell me."

i dont know for some reason when the tech at the smog shop would throw it in 2nd gear it would nearly stall because their is not enough power to roll the dyno basically because one of the cylinders are not working. i did not know that at the time so the tech was confused and played with a few things, used his timming light but didnt know whats wrong, until i drove it home and realized the problem. it actually helped pushing the wires in because i found one of them kind of loose and that fixed the problem for now. i havent drove it too much but so far so good, if the car looses power again like that i will probably buy the bosch wires/cap/rotor/plugs

ok well i took the car for a long spin and after a while i lost most of the power until i went home. so im guessing the cheap aftermarket wires i have cant resist heat no more, so i purchased the bosch brand..free shipping

Is it possible it could be something else other then the wires?

thanks....

Some possibility of a bad coil, though I haven't heard of it happening with a 924. An old '74 Dodge van I once had would run worse after it heated-up - the problem turned out to be a bad coil in that case.

Seems like an obvious thing to put new plugs in there with the wires... but get good ones, Bosch or NGK (yes IMO they are good) - but not Champion, Delco, or other domestic junk... or Splitfires or other gimmick ones either...
