my 78 924 has what I think is the diverter valve, the car did come from cali., but with its age is this something that I can remove or just replace the diverter. The reason I ask the vacum line fiting hs been repaired, glued, before I owned the car, so and now is broken again. With the leak will this effect the running of the engine or future emisson tests if needed down the road? I have another diverter from a different engine but it is hooked up differently. Two of the hoses are switched does this matter or just hook it up like it is in my car?

Are you running with an air pump installed?

I would check the emissions laws in your state, and if it is allowed, I would remove the air pump, and the related hoses, plugging holes as necessary with brass plugs (you can find them at any good auto parts or hardware store).

Yes, The air pump is on the car, the belt was not on. Being new to 924s and learning as I go, What are the pros and cons of running the Diverter? Where I live now has no emission laws, anything goes. I am planning a moving, so it would be best to keep the diverter. Other than the vent tube stem broken on mine, do they wear out? I have one on a second engine that I can use. I am also having trouble with the engine not wanting to stay running when I start it. It will start, run then stop. after several attempts it will idle. If I give it some gas it chokes. I redid the install of the fuel filter to check for a pinch in the line, no pinch still does it. It ran better before I changed the filter, but was not great then. It is flowing the correct direction Any thoughts would be much appreciated
