Hey,
I have been looking through previous posts, and recall that recently someone found a good source for motor mounts, but cannot find it with the search..
I am in need of a right hand side motor mount for my 76 24.. The one which has the spring in it, as it has broken and I noticed just before dumping the engine back in.. Does anyone know where I can get hold of one of these? The best price I have found is 130 sterling
Any help is appreciated!

Might have been "Vibratech" motor mounts you were looking for? A search on that brings up some info.

Smoothie is on the ball as usual. Give the dog a bone.
IIRC it was Applebit that had some springs made to suit. Obviously easier than putting a 350 CID V8 in a 924.
Maybe able to source a similar size spring from a diesel truck engine valve spring. Dont know if you have a heavy engine reconditioning shop on the island though. Perhaps an online search for springs will reveal a suitable alternative since that is probably all you really need.

When i was in desperate need of an engine mount for my 932 i called porsche and as usual they wanted a ridiculous amount for it.
So i contacted stoddard in the US and they quoted me around 170 US dollars for 1. Had it shipped over with some other parts and am now happy once again. |

Thanks for the replies guys..
I will call vibratech in the morning to see if they can ship a set over here quickly.. the best price I found previously was $251 for just the RHS mount..
$130 for both seems pretty good to me!! Ill let you know what they are like when they arrive..
Quick update:
The engine is all back together and just waiting for the mounts before popping it back in, parts which have been changed: Core plugs (Freeze plugs) - this was the reason the engine was pulled..
Clutch
Oil pan gasket/s
All the wiring on the engine
Injector sleeves
Got the radiator done once it was out
Inlet manifold gaskets
Exhaust gaskets
Changed the oil pressure sender unit to one which actually gives the oil pressure.
Also I took advantage of the opportunity to clean up any rust in the engine bay and treated/cleaned all that up and re-painted it..
Im sure there are other bits and pieces, but that is what I can remember off the top of my head.. Am i forgetting any majors?
Once the engine is back, it should continue at a good rate until its finished.. Bit*h is I still am unable to find any sort of insurance for this car!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the help once again guys!!

They are $72 for a pair on Ebay.. Seems like a fair price. Cheaper than they were on my old Kia.. heh.. _________________ Brian near Seattle, WA

Hey guys,
I ordered the mount I needed today from vibratech.. Its 68 sterling per mount, so I just go the one I needed for now, the LHS mount is still in good condition.. It will leave from their end in the morning, and I cant wait for it to arrive..
Una, I looked at the mounts which are $72 for a pair on ebay, those are not the same ones for my car, they are for the later models and will not fit..
I spoke to John about the mounts, he seems very honest and pointed out before I ordered that it will cause slightly more vibration than the original mount as these are stiffer, I appreciate him pointing this out before placing the order..
Thanks again for your help guys!!!!!!

Quick update,
I received the engine mount today, it looks pretty good and now the engine can FINALLY be dropped back in the car! I will let you know how it goes and if the engine mount is as good as it looks..
Info: got it from www.vibra-technics.co.uk
shipping was very fast and they are nice to work with and for the first time, a company charged me the ACTUAL shipping cost
Hopefully I will find myself with some free time soon and will get this thing onto the black stuff for the first time!
