|
|
I have a 87 924s that I would like to turbo and have a few questions, first is the compression on the 2.5 turbo motors any different then the NA version of the motor (is there a difference between the turbo 2.5 and non turbo 2.5 as far as internals go) provided that it is possible to turbo a NA 2.5 I have 2 ways to go, either buy all the parts off of ebay (all the exhaust components) and buy new larger injectors and a new turbo. or I can get a exhaust flange made and weld up my own turbo header and piping (I am a cert welder and have a nice tig machine to do all the work with) but the prices that the parts are going for on ebay make it a lot cheaper to just use the factory stuff from ebay. oh and the last question I had was in regards to the computer or DME whatever you want to call it, can I just replace the chip inside with a chip made for a 944 turbo or do I need a new computer
thanks
-Justin
PS here is a pic of the car before and after (lots of mods)

umm..when you wanted to turbocharge your 924S and you started by painting it yellow and removing the front lights?
good luck with it...i think it would be easyer to supercharge it...but if you are a good welder...have fun ! _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

| As far as i have heard, the con rods on the 2.5 NA engine are quite a bit "weaker" than the turbo ones, so if you are going to boost the hell out of it, that might be a problem. Compression issues are also present i think. If i remember correctly, the compression in the NA is around 10 or something... |

I think the way you modded your car is very aesthetically pleasing. I may have picked a different color though.
As for turboing your vehicle, read this articles
It more work than slapping on a turbo. _________________ 1987 Porsche 924S Black/Black. 5-spd.

Your on the right track, look at a wolf EMS 2.5ltr piggyback, this will give you programmable spark and fuel curves.
If you plan on running more than 6 psi then look at either changing pistons for lower compression or modify the cam for more duration to lower dynamic compression. The latter will chew fuel though.
Look at adding an oil cooler and boost controller whilst your at it...

compression was lower on '86 and '87 models, so I guess that might help _________________ current - '90 944S2, '00 986S,

buy the ebay turbo kit, that will get you started, until you break something and have to upgrade... _________________ [This Space For Rent] |
