ok.. i know this might sound rediculous.. but has anyone on here ever considered doing an EV conversion? i just recently did some really interesting research into the possibilities... and i gotta say, if it didn't cost so much to do the conversion, i'd probably be well into it right now. what does everyone else think? a fully-electric 924? i think it'd rock. _________________ '81 US 931 "Rochelle" |

BTW- here's a link to a company that does conversions such as these.. and their page for "exotics" which illustrate many a p-car conversion.

there was also a guy on here awhile back in the northeast who was planning on converting a 924, not sure how far he got though. the one above is near me, though i havent met him. he sold the car quite some time ago from what i understand.
crusing range is the biggest set back imo, sombody build a 924 hybrid, that'll get some attention _________________ Eric

haha. i definitely agree. that'd get a lot of attention. however, it's a little more work than i'd prefer. those systems are far more complicated. a straight-up EV would be a lot easier, at least in my opinion. and considering the fun that one could have with "tuning" the thing... i'd enjoy it. as for range.. i know that range is a bit short with the usual EVs, but if you opt for the best batteries (lithium-ion), you'll do far better than the average EV. and if you get extra-crafty, i'm sure you can setup to do a recharge at just about any wall outlet.
it's a pipe-dream for me, i know. there's no way i'm going to be able to afford any such project at any time soon. but damn, it'd be fun. that's why i was wondering if anyone who had the time/patience/funding had attempted it. _________________ '81 US 931 "Rochelle" |
