hi
i recently bought a 924, and the mechanic says its missing because a injector is acting like a hose not like an aresol can so i gets really wet and wont fire. it was the third one, but when i pulled off the lead for the 2nd cylinder it seemed like it was that one.
But i was wondering if it could be caused by a faulty fuse box (or electrics in general) causing the fuel dilivery to stuff up. Because the rear wiper doesnt work (theres no noise at all, the wiper selector doesnt seem to work, only the front work in both positions) neither does the aircon (when the fan is running and the i turn the aircon onto on it just stops running), as well as the clock (no light or noise), and now the front wipers are permentaly on intermiten (eg once every few seconds or so) and cant get it to stop. also the front and rear left speakers make no noise at all.
can someone please give me some guidance, before i spend a furtune on labor costs trying to find out what is wrong, and before i replace the injectors for no reason and waste money, are the injectors and electric problems related
thanks heaps
regards

G'day, welcome to The 'Board.
I'm not a guru but I do know that the fuel injection is Bosch K-Jetronic, which is commonly called C.I.S. which means Continuous Injection System. It's a mechanical, pressure-driven system. So although it's possible you have an electrical problem, if it is electrical, it's in the ignition (spark?).
I have put a link to the technical manual for the fuel-injection system in the Links forum... click here. It takes a long time to download (it's just a slow link, I left it running overnight) but it's worth it.
Seems the injectors will run you about AU$320 just for parts (for the set, that is. Best to replace them all at once if you have to replace them). So it might be worth trying to clean them and run some home diagnostics on them before your mechanic convinces you to replace them...
Many experts here, I'm sure you'll get some sound advice. _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

hi thanks mate
ive taken it to him previously, and he then replaced the spark plugs and flushed out the injectors, and said if it starts missing again ill need to replace the injectors. but im worried it could be the fuel distributer or the oxygen sensor is stuffed and telling the fuel distributer to pump way more fuel than neccessary, or the cold start vavle is permently on, putting way to much fuel.
if any ones had this problem (spark plug becoming very wet and not firing causing missing) then there feed back would be greatly appreciated.
and can anyone tell me what tools i need to remove the spark plugs and injectors |

Dunno about the injectors (never had to pull them myself) but for the spark plugs you only need a plug spanner.
Or a socket for your ratchet...
I can't remember the size but someone here will know.

Hopefully he's right. Because you don't wanna start messing with the fuel distributor if you can avoid it.

Anything's possible but I suspect if it were anything besides an injector or the fuel distributor, you wouldn't be missing on only one cylinder...
Perhaps a simple test would be to swap the injectors from cylinder to cylinder and see if the miss follows a particular injector? _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

Err... I always thought the euro/aus version NA didn't have an O2 sensor?
The injectors are not electrical but get gunked up and will either give poor spray or not close or both.
I just paid $115 for 4 injectors but haven't fitted them yet.
I used a claw hammer to remove my old ones for cleaning.
Could be different for a turbo model. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

Took about 10 days.
I bought them to replace my old ones cos I have a hot start problem which I had replaced several other items and finally decided it was the injectors.
After cleaning out my old ones it appears the hot start problem has finally gone for now.
Still keeping the new injectors though. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

I was just going on Performance 9's price. Wow, AU$115 is stupid cheap. For that price I'd just replace 'em, if it's what your mechanic is saying is the problem. _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

I used compressed air, thinners and then oil. Used the air to blow the thinners and then oil through them.
Thinners to clean all the fuel residue and oil to lube. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA
