Well I'll be getting my drives license in a few months, and then I'll be getting my motocycle license. Well mom said I could have her bike, which is a 1979 Kawasaki LTD 400. Well I love the bike, but I would like to put a black ceramic coated exhaust on it, and co a custom exhaust, so that the left exhaust, comes over to the right side, and well I can't describe it, but if I do it, I'll post a pic. But back onto the topic. Does anyone know of anyplace that sells parts for 79 Kawasaki LTD 400's. But also, I won't to get a little more performance out of it. So give me some ideas for the performance end. SO thanks in advance guys. _________________ What i own:

I would recommend that you look at a bike forum, there are millions out there, when it comes to the bike, do NOTHING to it leave it stock, learn to ride, when you decide that you want a quicker bike, sell this one and buy a faster one! _________________ 3 928s, |

That bike has more than enough power as a first bike, it will blow off most cars.
I wouldn't spend a cent on a $500 bike.... _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

After you get it tuned up and running just spend your money on tires, leathers and a GOOD helmet.

I use my '75 KZ400 as my everyday/year-round commuter. Of course, the $1200/year car parking pass vs. the $110/year bike pass at work makes it easily justifiable! Not to mention, women love riding on the back

^ is a great place for all the tech how-to's you'll likely ever need. A Haynes/Clymer/Chilton repair manual is great to have on hand too.
I concur with everyone else who says not to worry about modifications. Bikes are great fun as-is. Even a "slow" 400cc street bike.
My tips- new tires, throttle&clutch cables, change the brake fluid, lube/adjust the chain, drop some carb cleaner in the tank, and buy lots of leather - chaps, jacket, gloves, and a good helmet. Then take the Ohio MC safety course (not-optional!) And have fun. _________________ 1980 931S

spend your money on a good , FULL FACE helmet. not the one thats been sitting in the garage, and probably has microfractures in it from falling off the bike that you can only detect by having it x-ray'd, but a new one that fits your head correctly. Then tires, and brake/clutch/throttle cables if needed, everything after that is optional.. _________________ Eric
