Answers in order of pictures:
1. There is a trim piece that goes there.
2a. I beleive that is the cooling vent that attaches to a hose that connects to the snorkle on the back of the alternator.
2b. ?
3. That is the cold start valve. The wiring going to it is non original, maybe a possible attempt at manually activating the cold start valve to cure a hot start problem.
4. ?
5. I believe since yours is an early car, that hose connects to the crankcase breather. Fumes from the crankcase are sucked into the intake track and reburned. On later cars this connection was made further along in the intake track.
6. ?
7. ?
8. ?
9. Oh my god.
10. Headliner.
How attached are you to that 924? We've all dealt with rough cars, some paint, some rust, some mechanical, some electrical, but that car has the worst of everything. I would seriously consider getting a better example. _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

photo 8 Been there pain in the neck - you need to remove the lock assembly, then plastic trim part will come off..
later units the trim around steering column is a two piece unit _________________ Remember a Porsche is not just for Christmas,
if you take it to pieces slowly it can provide anguish all year long! |

On Photo 8 it's much easier than you think. In your picture you've all but got it off. There is a black plastic ring about 1.5inches long that is on the steering column between the ignition assembly and the splined end of the steering column. There should be a small notch in it, just get a screw driver in there and pry it out, it's kind of tough. Also make sure that you remove that allen keyed bolt on the left side of the silver assembly, it's just of of view in your picture.
Then just put the key into the ignition swith and turn it...it releases the cylinder lock and the whole assembly can slide off the column. _________________ Mike

I can help you with the steering column thing.
That plastic trim comes off with the metal thing. What you have to do is remove that black cylinder thing on the column, it is some sort of spacer, it's plastic, looks like metal tho. Use channel locks to pull it off, then everything else comes of easily.

I mean its not like I'd kill myself without it but I bought it knowing it needed some work, I just didn't know how much lol. I pretty much got it cuz it was cheap + looked cool, and I knew I could fix it, Ill prolly keep it honestly just to give me something to do for awhile, even if I dont fix all of it I can at least get it running and see if anyone wants it =P I'm already $600 in, so I might as well TRY to finish ya know? _________________ 1977 924 - sold

I think maybe the best thing you could do is find someone with a 924 in your area,have him drive his car to your house, and just compare the two, figure out what pieces you need, ect.

1- Yes, a trim piece. It's made of sheet metal, rigid foam and covered with vinyl.
6- "Wheres this go?" I'm guessing would go to the emissions air pump if your car has/had one. The "Air filter?" wouldn't be an air filter. It looks like a vacuum controlled valve. If there's another large line off the rear of it that leads to the charcoal canister (behind the front-left wheel), then it's your EEC control valve.
7- Possibly the remains of an air filter for the air pump, again if your car had one.
8- Those are attached with 2 small screws up from the bottom - one on each side. I've always been able to remove it without removing the ignition switch/lock. Hope that sadistic PO didn't glue it together - other wise, removing the screws should get it off.
9- Beautiful. That's the rear - it gets headliner.
10- The front inner roof - actually gets a trim piece of sheet metal, rigid foam, covered with vinyl like the sides in pic 1. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

Yea although it might be kind of weird just calling someone up hehe. I appreciate the help from everyone im pretty new to all of this especially Porsches..I honestly think im just gunna seal up the sunroof though, It would be nice but I don't really wanna deal with the leaks, nothing permanent like glue but maybe something you can just peel off  _________________ 1977 924 - sold
