How do you do this, I just saw that mine is filled up with half a litre of water. I removed the rear lights and then removed the nuts on the back of the taillights and then tried pushing it out and it won't budge.

I used a hose to was theoutside of the lens and water pours in from the gap between the lens and the hatch. I was just thinking of masking my paint and filling the entire gap around the taillight with clear silicone but that's not the best idea.

anyone know how I can get the tailight out with breaking it or taking out chunks of my paint? I think once it pops out you reseal it with the black sticky sealant stuff.

thanks.

This is not 944board.org, timstar92404.

(and your handle is misleading, too)

The tailights will come out...they have a really good sealer holding them in place. When I took mine out..I just had to use ALOT of pressure and they eventually start to let go. You can assist the process by getting a putty knife in there in places and kind of cutting the sealer.

You might want to look at a way to seal the lense where it is. The masking tape and sealer is a good way. I would use urathane personally as it won't peel off like silicone WILL. Just tape on either side of the line you want to seal to get a nice even line...and it won't be noticabe that way.

yeah but if that won't work it'll be even harder to get out. What is urethane? Silicone doesn't work that good and if you get it on your paint it will wreck it.

I think I still need to get the tail light out as its filled halfway with water I could stick a few rags in there and let it dry for a few days.

I will need to seal all the gaps on the tailight that I assume should already be sealed off with the black sealant stuff.

I guess I'll try pushing harder, I'm scared that it'll crack and still not come out or that it will suddenly pop out and take out a chunk of paint (my new paint job arleady has chips on a lot of spots and there is a tiny spot flaking under the door....).

how many nuts did you take out? i had the exact same problem, then i realized theres one hidden on the bottom. i beleive there was six nuts to take off. if you took of five, look for another one.

btw, i liked the pink floyd avatar better than whatever youve got on there now.

They take a little care to remove.

Wait for a really warm day. The black stuff is really tough. Remove the 6 or 7 nuts. With a firm pressure push with your hand the black part only from the inside. DO NOT PUSH THE SCREWS. They will break the black plastic. With a small screw driver try to run it along the edge on the outside first. Try not to chip the paint. You may want to have a friend help you push while he uses the small screw driver to pry it off. Have him be careful not to chip the paint. It will come off.

You have to buy the sealer when you are finished. First clean the lens of all the old black stuff. I would put the sealer on the lens and then press it on. Firmly from the outside.

If you fail and crack the tail light lens I have one or two for sale at $15 ea. Let me know.

Good luck.

If you remove the lights and don't install them air tight, you'll be complaining of headaches again.

Didn't someone just ask this within the past month? I thought the suggestion taken was to drill a very small hole in the bottom of the lense and it was said to have done the trick? That way if it fills up again you won't have to take it out again.

that trick works on more than lights. That's how I drained my passenger foot bath.

If you can get heavy fishing line or weed whacker line through it instead of a knife or screwdriver use it to cut the sealant (like a egg slice does).
Shouldnt bother the paint n panels.
