|
|
I just recieved the second batch of LED's. 50,000 mcd . The first batch at 25,000 mcd just missed the mark. I'm happy at the results and I am moving to the overhead lighting and signal lights.
The below picture has the original bulb in on the left with the new LED's on the right.

Looks great. Are these just plug and play or are some other modifications needed? _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

looks nice, mine are way too dark I can barely see anything at night.
did you have to take dash completely out to replace the bulbs or doyou just pop the instrument cluster out. _________________ 78 924 sold.

Will any 50,000 mcd LED work? What value resistor did you use? _________________ 1979 931 with a 350 chev

Wow, what an improvement! Very interested to hear more, esp if they work with the dimmer... _________________ Vaughan Scott

Are you selling these? Are they easy to install? What's the cost?
I'm interested in being able to know my speed at night so I can at least know the numbers when I'm fighting speeding tickets in court! I have 1 point left on my license. So one more high speed flyby or rolling through a stop sign will cause me to walk for 2 months or some damn thing.
The trouble is Porsche season starts in two weeks and the Bimmer took all the ponts I was saving for the summer! DAMN IT! |

If by "DIY" you mean call my mechanic and have him do it, yes, let's get this process down on paper. I assume differnt colours can be had??? |

You may be able to use differnt colors, maybe blue, or green... However I think red has a weird reaction with most gauge clusters where it wont show through or something. I could be wrong though, thats just how it was with my last car.
But yes a quick DIY. More money that can be spent!!! _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

$16.50 for 50 shipped with 510-ohm resistor ready for 12 volt.
They have a 25-degree angle.

I wanted to keep them plug and play so I modified the holders very little. They can easily be unsoldered and take oem bulbs again.
There is a little trick with a hot pin to isolate the contacts through the plastic housing.
I'm working on the dimmer problem now. I should be able to use the oem pot wheel.
I did the overhead with 2 led’s and it works well. It sheds a very cool blue white light.
It’s very easy to do. I removed the steering wheel and pulled all three gauges and plastic bezel as a unit. _________________ 1978 924 95 mile daily driver.

Those little fellas put out UV photons, so don't shine 'em right into your eye while playing with them. Flashlights that use them normally include a warning about it. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

Does that mean, once they are installed we can't/ shouldn't look at them? The lights point outwardly... the driver is outwardly.... |
