To minimize wear on overhead cams during cold starts, you want to make sure the oil filter has incorporated in it an anti-drain back valve. Not all filters have one. Usually the application guides specify if they have one or not. Don't recall if the Fram PH2870A had one or not.

Isn't it just a rubber membrane that allows oil to flow into the filter, but not out?

Some filters also have pressure relief valves that bypass a clogged filter element.

On the Audi motors, the position of the oil filter helps prevent any drain back.

These two have the rubber check valves to prevent backflow (the Fram in black rubber and the NAPA in orange colored rubber). The NAPA 1342 also has a spring visible just inside the center opening - probably part of a bypass mechanism -

The taringa store what a name...

Taringa is just the name of a suburb in Brisbane, mate. The store is called Supercheap Auto (yep, one of the discount chains ) and it's located in the suburb of Taringa.

We''ve got some real beauties, though. Try these ones on for size:

Indooroopilly, Yerongapilly, Mutdapilly, Jindalee, Doolandella, Woolloongabba, Coochiemudlo...

Well there's always:

Spread Eagle, WI.

Which is nothing more than a crossroads with a strip club, golf course, and church.

And we need more?

Well, as long as they serve booze at the strip club, right?

According to the wife, I've never been there, not even during the week of deer camp each year (it's 20 minutes away), so I've only heard that beers are available....

I've also heard that the population increases 10 fold during dear season.

Nope Australian toilets do not swirl, they use a jet of water that flushes the crap straight down.

They do have two flush buttons, however. 1/2 flush and full flush. (For #1 and #2)

I am all for synthetic. I have a Subaru Forester that I put a bunch of miles on (an '01 with 200k+) and I have been running synthetic the whole time. No smoke, doesn't burn ony oil.
I would rather go quail hunting with Chaney than run dino in any of my cars.
