Just acquired this strange beast. Comments & suggestions please!
Arrived 2-18-2006 - 1983 Porsche 944 convertible conversion. Someone spent a ton of money on this professional conversion package & added a turbo nose while doing so. The car (not a turbo) was running & driving very well until about 3 months ago when a theft attempt occurred. The thieves cut the top to enter the car then stole the radio face plate, passenger window switch, 2 fog light lenses & 2 reference sensors from the engine. Odometer reads 70K miles. Car has a factory original, non 944 paint color (I think it is the 1983 911 series Glacier Blue color). Needs paint, front & rear seats (both missing), a new dash cap, tires with different rims (phone dials or 16" flat dishes) and a new top. The interior is black & in remarkably good shape. The body is straight - no rust anywhere. A nice project which will become an eye catching, conversation piece type car. _________________ 83/86 944 Parts cars (2)

Great project. Will look great with some design 90s, new paint and a new top. Bummer about the top being ripped by the thieves, sounds like odd thieves to nick those things. I presume they didn't lift the seats out too...
When was the front end last done? _________________ 1983 - 924 (185K miles) - not mint

The theives knew what they were doing. Those fog lights cost a fortune. _________________ '84 944

My point exactly...intelligent thieves, we don't get many of them in Nottingham! I'm surprised they didn't take the whole of the nose assembly, those things are about £1000 in the UK as opposed to £50 for the lens caps. _________________ 1983 - 924 (185K miles) - not mint

I thought Nottingham had the best thieves? Don't they steal from the rich and give to the poor? _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

The ones with bows and arrows and in green lycra are a dying breed sadly!
The council now robs/taxes from the rich and gives to the poor/bone idle. _________________ 1983 - 924 (185K miles) - not mint

looks like a nice project. I think its interesting to see the hinges for the trunk on the outside of the car - I guess the top takes up any room that could have been used for mounting internal hinges. What would really keep anyone from just popping the hinges and gaining access to the car that way?
(or am I just looking at something that isn't there in the pics) _________________ 924.org (no time to complete)
