89 pontiac grand prix- it was a piece of crap, it handled like a big boat looked pretty ugly etc.
85 honda civic. I could probably kick the car in half due to the rust. when I ripped out a quarter of the floor with my hands and could see the pavement while driving. It was still reliable but too dangerous. _________________ 78 924 sold.

I've had two E21 beemers and my 924 Turbo, so IMHO, I've never owned an ugly car
I always thought (and still do think) the E21's were very handsome cars.
The worst car I've ever regularly driven? Easy: My parents '84(?) XE Ford Falcon Wagon. The suspension on a horse-drawn buggy would've put this thing to shame... so would the steering! I mean, c'mon... no power steering in car bigger than some light trucks?! What were they thinking?!
Everything fell off it. But that was OK 'cause nothing worked anyway
Acceleration was glacial. Again, OK... 'cause so was braking.
Fuel consumption? Plant the right foot and you could actually see the fuel gauge slide towards E! She was a thirsty beast!
Its only saving grace? An damn-near bullet-proof in-line-six 250ci engine. It just never died, despite being viciously mistreated by myself and two siblings!
It certainly wasn't a pretty car. But I've seen plenty of uglier ones (XA, B, C's, for example. Utterly hideous). I'd call it plain rather than ugly. Kinda like a fridge on wheels...
The worst car I've ever been in? A Datto (Datsun) 120Y. Y? Why, oh why indeed. A Coke can had more structural integrity (probably contained more steel, too). Gutless, absolutely gutless engine. But it felt quick 'cause it was so horrifically dangerous... you were always on-edge driving (or being driven in) it.
Close run second is an old '80's Holden (GM) Commodore that my mate put a far too powerful V8 in. Dangerously quick 'cause it didn't stop and didn't turn. There's a reason they call 'em "Tree Magnets"
Then there was my mates' Suzuki Sierra... *shudder* _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

lol - I had to google every one of those Ausi cars except the Ford Falcon, but I did anyway just in case:
Suzuki Sierra = Suzuki Samuri
BMW E21 = BMW 321i
Datsun 120Y = Datsun B210
Holden Commodore = Cousin to Chevy Corsica (?)
Ford Falcon Wagon = same (assuming its the older model - the newer version is not available in the US)

The XE Falcon Wagon (via ebay):
My second E21 ('77 BMW 320i):
The first one was exactly the same except green.
One of the worlds worst automotive crimes, the Datsun 120Y:
The "Tree Magnet"... A Holden Commodore (VB series, about 84?):
The Suzuki Sierra. Slightly larger than the box of matches that should've been used on it:
Oh yeah... and an XA Falcon. Hideous:

Well, the cars aren't unique to Oz.
The Suzuki Sierra is a "Samuri" or whatever elswhere.
The BMW 320i is the same world-wide.
The Datsun 120Y does indeed look like the B210 (I Googled ). I'm sure it's not unique to Oz, just a different name.
The Holden Commodore is a re-styled Opel Omega. From the GM family. Not sure if they're sold in the U.S. or what they're called there if they are. They're all over Europe.
Oh, and your new Pontiac GTO (called a Monaro here -aboriginal for Thunder or something?) is the two-door version of the Holden Commodore.
The only one that's somewhat unique is the Falcon. The very first ones were the XM's imported from the 'States in the early '60's but they fell apart here on our goat tracks... *cough*.... sorry, roads.
So Ford Australia started building their own based on components from the Yankee Fords.
These days, the new BF Falcon is almost completely unique. The body and chassis are all Ford Oz. The engine is a distant cousin of the original in-line Yank six but almost completely redesigned (twin-cam, 4-valve per cylinder with variable valve timing, etc...) and the tranny is the same one from the new BMW 5-Series, I think. _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

The Holden Commodore was the Opel Rekord in mainland Europe, Vauxhall Carltion in the UK.
I had the Opel version with a 2 litre engine (100PS) until last year. It was an honest reliable car, but as Khal said a real tree magnet. Oversteer was there for the taking, no bad thing I suppost, but this was supposed to be a family car.
The 120Y was the WORST car ever made. Somebody must have been shot for it.... _________________ 1981 931 S2

Oh c'mon, mate! They're shite. They weren't even considered that great when they were new! Revisionist History is the problem, mate. Not snobbery
(and to prove it, I've always had a thing for the Phase III's, I quite like them)

You're absolutely right. My mistake...
Either way, it wasn't really unique to Oz. Just a few styling tweaks. _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

My ugliest car was my first: a Primer Gray 1972 Buick Riviera GS - I loved that thing though. It could pass anything but a gas station... _________________ Josh, CPN
