Hay guys. I was just thinking would you be able to drop a ford 302 5.0L EFI engine in a Porsche 924. Yes i know i would need to set up a new drive train, and rewire the whole car. but would there be enough under hoop space.
Thnx,

The '88-93 5.0 Ford tucks nicely under the hood of a first generation RX7 with room to spare on top. It's a very compact motor, only issues I would be concerned about would be the sump clearing the crossmember, and fitment of headers. Then again, if they can fit an LT1 in a 928, ANYTHING is possible. Hell, I've seen a big block in a Nash Metro.
I've seen this for Chevy applications, not sure if someone makes one for a 5.0, but there are cardboard mock motors you can buy, just for fitment purposes. They are physically the same size as the actual motor, but you can pick them up and put them in place by hand, and see where it'll fit and what will be a clearance issue.
94/95 5.0's had an even more squished intake manifold, to clear the hood of the SN95 Mustang body shell. I'm not sure if the T-bird and Crown Vic 5.0's used that manifold as well. _________________ '81 931 in various states of assembly |

'89 towncar used the 5.0 HO, same engine as the 5.0 Mustang. Same as the crown vic, thunderbird, LSC, etc. _________________ '81 931 in various states of assembly |

do a search within forum...you'll see pics of it done already. It looks like a nice fit. I would go that route if I were doing another one.....O wait...no I wouldn't..I would do the LT1. _________________ 1976 924
